I believe they’re called half rectangle triangles instead of half square rectangles. Super fun video. I love those prints!

Can you tell me if I cut my large diamonds at 6 1/2 folded? What size would I cut the little ones so that they would be the same size as the big diamond?

Wasn't sure about that blue, at first, but I like it

Thanks, April, for the insight we need when putting a quilt together with all those angles! Krista Moser does it so easily! I want to try one just like you, with some of those 4 patches. I like the design you chose and the fabrics! Could you have used the “halves” left from cutting out the diamonds to add to the sides to keep from trimming off the half diamonds? I think I have seen that done, but I have not done it! It would have added to the width and length. I enjoyed this tutorial very much, but you have a lot more patience than I have with with Oliver getting his paws and tail too close to the rotary blade!

Hi, April! I bought this same template set at a quilt show in Pigeon Forge. I want to make a quilt with them from my enormous stash of Halloween fabrics.🎃

April, thank you for showing us that quilting is ‘real’! I think we all struggle with different things on different days and I don’t feel so alone after watching you with your struggles! Some days everything just flows and others it’s as though there’s a storm raging in the quilt room! You are a breath of fresh air girl!🎉❤😊

Have you thought about using the half scraps to make half diamonds so you don’t have to cut diamonds in half
@aprilscraftroomКүн бұрын
I had not. Good idea. Thank you.
@ritarogers6093Күн бұрын
You could use half square rectangles to add some length and width also.

I know I should declutter, instead I stash away, I know there's things I should let go, instead I dream a new project, I've got bins, I've got cubbies, I've got shelves and bags and boards, and still my room looks like a contender to defeat anyone else's hoard. Need a seam ripper I've got 30 stashed away somewhere, never have to worry about my fabric scissors being used for paper cuz they can't be found anyways. I have one rotary cutter with a new blade, the 5 (or was it 6) others are all dull and due a change. And I used to bemoan and huff and puff cleaning up the mess. Dreaming of the precuts I could make from stash of scraps, turning them into neat little bundles easy to grab and use. And then one day it hit me... Martha Stewart I am not, my creativity thrives in chaos and is stifled in fear of a mess. So I have a chest to shove my scraps, a place to put my aside my fabric for projects, and some drawers for my tools. The rest can do as it will. Shove it to the left, shove it to the right, toss it up on a shelf or stick it down below. If I need it I can hunt and if I don't then that's fine too. I've too many things to do to spend a month cleaning everything and stacking it all away pretty and neat to where I never want to use it because I just cleaned.

Can non-directional fabric be cut from strips with the template laid on one of its sides? Or does that affect straight-of-grain? Like a trapezoid? Is that the right word? Or am I thinking of a parallelogram? Two sides would on the grain line and only two would have bias edges.
@tippylaroux3137Күн бұрын
I’ve always done that with my EPP diamonds. You’re able to do more “batch cutting”. Krista Moser (sp?) does a good job of demonstrating it.

I really like the diamond quilt and the blue border. Personally I have a hard time with the same block o er and over and this has so much interest and is definitely not boring. Great job!!!
