good for those big curvy tables you get in posh board meeting rooms and internet start up companies too.

Good point! We didn't show deforming the table along curves but RailClone would be excellent for that. If anyone wants to try it, we would just suggest you turn of Bend for all the segments except for the table. You may also need to import the tables as a mesh instead of using Proxies which can't be deformed.

Great Tutorial as Usual , I have a Suggestion if you don't mind and I think it'll be Game Changer : Adding new Operator item , Called (Controller) , its something like Arithmetic Operator but its first Link input1 is Objects [Segment, spline....] , and the rest input[n] are Parameters [Numeric...]) and its output work as Objects The purpose of it is writing Function to control any parameters of input1 with input[n] I think its easy task because you already have access to all of this through Maxscript .

Use segment material... I have not got it to work yet. I was originally assuming it was just more issues with Octane/RC incompatibility, but even with just 2 segments (each with a different standard scanline material) and rendered in scanline; it just chooses the material of the first segment and applies it to the whole railclone. The "use segment material" checkbox does nothing. Also tried screwing around with instancing engine. Max 2018 and RC 5.2.3.

Hi Troy, this feature was added to the API that several renderers use to support RailClone, but not all of them have updated to add support yet. To the best of our knowledge, the feature is currently supported in V-Ray, Arnold and Corona. I'm afraid we can't add support for the other renderers, it has to happen on their side. Thanks for understanding.

@@itoosoft Ok, thanks for the response. I am actually beginning to wonder why we use Octane at my work still... probably the denoiser is worth all the other problems 😖
