Love your idea and homemade tool, brilliant. I have given it a try, so far ,still unable to open a lock yet. I think my homemade tool needs a finishing touch on it and also i am new to disc detainer locks and lock sport overall. Will continue to try and re-watch your videos for inspiration and instruction. Thanks a lot DrBint!

You'll get it open mate, only 3 discs to turn back and they're all together with no zero discs in between... so at the very least you should be able to luck it open! Keep playing with it and you'll get the feel for discs that're already set, that's the main thing... and keep your movements very slow, moving by very small amounts, you can't go wrong. You'll feel discs click pretty solid when they set, really is easy when you get the hang of it :o)

I love improvising with tools, can save you a few quid as well lol anyway nice one, I knew there would be a simpler way to pick disc locks with out buying a tool I can't afford thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍

Thanks for making this video. I know I am a little late LOL I had a cheap disc detainer pick and it broke the very first time I used it. I should say, it broke the first time I inserted it since I didn't get a chance to use it.

Aww thanks :D I don't feel I explained things adequetly to be honest, it was more just for a guy on one of the forums cos I sent him identical picks. My 2-part tutorial on these using the 2-in-1 picks is a lot more detailed, I think this one will make a lot more sense after you've seen those too.

Haha I know the feeling... was on there yesterday and I wanted a pile of stuff, settled on something cool though. Hopefully I can get it picked when it arrives :D

I'm a newbie, and have never given disc detainers a try. The only disc detainers I have seen in videos, have false gates. It that the case with those locks? Is it easy to feel the difference betweem false and true gates?

Are these types of square type keyed locks harder to pick than regular padlocks if the person whos going to pick it is not an expert?
@DrBint12 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! They're not as scary as they look... well, the cheap ones anyway :D

what if the tension disc is bottom one? On my Disc Brake lock first disc just spins.

Never too late: The reason for the importance of the shackle orientation is because you want the sidebar pointed south of the keyway laying horizontally.

Hi mate, I’m thinking of starting to pick locks for my new hobby, can you recommend a set of picks and tensioning wrenches for a newby, great videos by the way 👍🏼
@DrBint6 жыл бұрын
Sparrows tuxedo (original not royale). Their picks aren't the strongest but they're decent quality and finished well; with sleeves over the handles they're super comfortable too. Wrench selection is fantastic and will keep you covered for loads of stuff. I actually carry a set of their wrenches in both my everyday kit and my proper kit. Worth it just for the wrenches and case. When you figure out what picks you like to use, upgrade to multipick or peterson if you can.

@@DrBint thanks for swift response ,and I'm going to purchase that Kit you recommended , who'd of know that looking for information on changing my Euro cylinder in my front door as got me hooked 😁👍thanks again
@DrBint12 жыл бұрын
Cool, what brand is it? Lemme know if you get it open! If the front disc isn't a driver it might be a bit of a swine but you'll get it with a bit of persistence. :D
