This is so, so, so cool! I love seeing the guts of the PS and it's incredible that you dove right into the soldering work. And of course...I rewatched 16:57 for the good stuff 😂 Nothing beats that boot screen.

Be cool if 1 day someone figures out how to put apps on these modded old school game consoles like KZbin, Netflix etc ... be interesting to turn on the N64, Dreamcast hell even the Sega Master System, NES and get a option to see something like that modded be kind of over the top awesome...

@@Magneteco personally, I’m not sure why nobody is talking about budget sets like the Strebito set. It’s a crying shame, but I feel that the budget sets are just as good, even though they aren’t a “Recognizable Brand” that has been showing up in vids from well known tech-tubers. I feel like the word needs to spread about the wonders of the “Just as Good” side of tech and the tools you can use. Thank you for coming to this Ted talk.

It ~literally~ blows my mind this is done now When I was a kid I often wondered if there would ever be a thriving mod community for these consoles

It's quite incredible what the PlayStation modding community has done. There's wireless controller, running games from SD Cards, and even HDMI Out options! I love it!

Honest dope video but why wouldn’t I just do something similar with the ps2 fat and get the best of both worlds is there more pros on the original ps1 or is it like a collection/restoration to give those original units a longer life span.
@Magneteco Жыл бұрын
The process of playing is 100% for restoring the PS1 system for a longer lifespan. Playing PS1 games on a PS2 is perfectly acceptable even though you need to play them off a USB drive if you do not own the original disc. You can play PS2 games off a HDD but not PS1 games. Mod chipping a PS2 is also really difficult so for a PS2, I recommend a softmod over a hardmod.

@@Magneteco thank you for the info to be honest I’ve been interested in setting up one of those raspberry pi mini servers to host all my games, but I only have a raspberry pi zero and every tutorial is using a pi 3, I have the same issue with my Dreamcast, I am passionate about video game collecting but never really done the restoring and repairing aspect mostly keep things factory but these are pretty cool.
@Magneteco Жыл бұрын
@@morrisdennison8039 I'm not too familiar with Raspberry Pi but what I do know, is that you can purchase a Dreamcast ODE and there is no Soldering involved. You just replace the laser with the ODE. I will absolutely do a video on that too.

@@Magneteco I would love that lol and I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of game-tech us but they sell aftermarket PSU replacement specifically designed for the consoles. Only issue with them is if you buy a cheap power supply. Just subbed can’t wait to see what comes next
@Magneteco Жыл бұрын
@@morrisdennison8039 Yes I am familiar. The main power supply is replaced by a small unit. The power is then transferred to a block outside of the console for better cooling. I've been debating on that one for a bit.

Played through Resident Evil 2 recently. You can set a boot order on the XStation. You can simply press a button on the menu when choosing your game! In the case of Resident Evil 2, you press the button and and a "1" will appear next the game title [Disc 1]. You can press the same button on another title [Disc 2] and a "2" will appear next to it. All you have to do is open the lid on the PS1 and close to load disc 2. Pretty neat!
