I've been using multi-effects for years and I love the fact that you can achieve awesome tones with a simple configuration. There are more people really good at multi-effects but they usually use tons of crazy workarounds to make it great. Keep the good work! I would love to see a video explaining your process of getting a great tone(not only explaining the patch)

They sounds awesome. It would be nice for a revisit with the updated software and amps but also in a snapshot format. More people use snapshots these days as they are so much easier to use and take up less space on the helix library list. It's hard to justify using up a whole preset for one little amp setup with no snapshots.

I followed the clean preset exactly ,even using the exact same ir and it sounded nothing remotely like in this video,not even a tiny bit , only difference I'm guessing is I used a PRS custom 24 and I've no idea what guitar was used here,I also added the ir after the amp in the signal chain on the helix ,so that ir loader he used must be changing the sound drastically

Here are my issues, I have been playing guitar since 1967 ( I found a perfect Telecaster neck tossed in s dumpster behind a guitar shop in Covina California. I took it to my wood shop teacher and he helped me build my first guitar. Sadly I never knew what happened to it. I went into the Army in 69. There was a time in my life that I considered myself pretty darn good, I am a tough critic. I am officially a retired Senior Warrant Officer and Blackhawk Pilot and EMS Helicopter Pilot. I am considering picking up my gear and getting back into it . My problem is I am old school. Screw all of the high tech software & hardware. Screw tweaking knobs dials 1.,25 or ok.56 bla bla. I just want a simple box with preset sounds. I have yet to find one that gets the hair on my neck to stand straight up or send shivers down my spine. I stick with the basic Boss specialty box’s, delays fuzz etc Let the kids program all of that expensive sound making gear
@BurakovAS
@BurakovAS 5 жыл бұрын
Whether you use the real stomps or modelers, you still tweak your sounds. The problem isn't tweaking, it's the lack of immediacy with software. With hardware, it's intuitive - you no like sound, you turn knob, you like sound. With software, since it's so versatile and flexible and so far removed from a "barebones" setup, there is a certain amount of inherent complexity involved. I have a similar issue, although from a slightly different angle. I regularly jam online with my mates (think weekly live jam band shows but without the audience), and we basically come up with tracks on the spot - there is never any planning involved. So, since you have to play it all live, and you want variety, you have to be able to switch sounds on the fly and tweak them (because you can't use the same tone to play calm blues, psychedelic rock and thrash metal). And therin lies the problem - *you can't do that quickly* with modelers. The best you can do with modelers is prepare a few presets in advance and hope it will be enough. So, yes, the lack of immediacy is the real problem. The tone is there. It's just very cumbersome to get it.

@@tvalla of those that you listed, perhaps the Black Album tone can be considered "good". The earlier album tones straight up suck. They're fizzy and scooped, there's A SHITTON of room sound, and they are generally very "I recorded this in my dad's garage" tones. They're an acquired taste, in the same way that e. g. Swedish death metal tones are, and you like them because the music is so great, but what you cannot say is that they have "good tone". I would even go as far as to say, tone wise, the Load and Reload era was Metallica tone at its finest - chunky and powerful. It started sucking after that, got thinned out, is too dry and overcompressed (and, well, we all know how "good" Death Magnetic sounded...). So yeah, for a band of such caliber, Metallica actually does have a shit tone.
