Is the sound coming into the computer from the midi or the stereo cable? I plan on buying one soon..just trying to figure it out. I don't understand why both cables are needed...also if you record a keyboard into your mpc with midi cables is the keyboard sounds recorded into the mpc? Thanks
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. So midi notes are like pieces of information. They tell a program when to trigger a device. So whatever device you have, be it a knob on a reverb, a piano vst or whatever, the program you are using triggers that device according to the midi data. The sound is actually coming in through the audio cable. If you record a keyboard into your MPC I believe it works the same way. The midi data would be the key strikes you play on the keyboard but the sounds would be seperate and be recorded into the MPC thru the audio cable. I hope that helps. I will plan to make a video about it too. Thanks for watching!

Im completely lost on setting my mpc up, i have this: PC, focusrite scarlett 2i2 audio interface, krk 5s, and the mpc 2000xl. No mixer. How would i set this up for it to work? Ive bought audio cables for my stereo out on my mpc, wich i assume is going to go into my interface? Then i have Midi to usb cables wich goes from my mpc into my computer. The thing is though i do not gain any connection with the mpc in fl studio, ive tried numerous tutorials on youtube both messing around with the software on the mpc and the cables. Do i NEED a mixer for this to work and cables for record in also? Any help is highly appreciated!
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 8 жыл бұрын
+Raz z If you have your MPC stereo out cables from your MPC to your audio interface and MIDI to USB cables from your MPC to your PC then you don't need a mixer. I use the mixer so I can tweak audio from vinyl records before sampling it into my MPC and also to tweak the output from my MPC to FL Studio when I track beats out. I explained in the video how to configure the settings on your MPC and the settings in FL Studio. Did you watch the whole video? If you did watch the whole video and you still have more questions, I'm happy to help.

Pardon the silly question? But in the case of the mpc 4000. Would u still need the midi to USB cable? Basically, would using the USB on the MPC 4000 to connect to FL compromise ur use and/or stop u from tracking out🤔 Thanks
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 7 жыл бұрын
Never a silly question. Its always an opportunity for one of us to learn something. In this case maybe someone else can help both of us learn something. I'm not familiar with the 4000, but I assume if it has a built is USB cable it would serve the same purpose and probably be a little easier to configure. Try to track down a user's manual if you don't have one. It would be more helpful than I can be. Thanks for the question though and thanks for watching.

First off, great video! How do you track out stereo? I have a beat that has subtle differences coming out on the Left than on the right and that's why I want to track out my beat stereo and not mono. For example, on the Left I have the guitar a bit heavier than on the Right to add dynamics to the song. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Does this just transfer midi data or does it give you the audio? Like do you have to have the sounds on your computer or are you getting all the sounds off the mpc through this process?
@KapitolTV
@KapitolTV 8 жыл бұрын
This transfers MIDI data and audio as long as you configure your MPC and DAW like I did in the video. The output and MIDI from your MPC need to be the input to your DAW.

Hey man, my MPC1000 has a left and right port for its Stereo Out. Would I have to connect one for each side directly from my MPC into my audio interface? This is a bit tricky lol
@KapitolTV
@KapitolTV 8 жыл бұрын
You can connect the left and right to your interface or you can use the headphone jack. If you use the left and right, make sure you have the correct cable so the audio doesn't get messed up. I can't remember if it's a balanced or uncbalanced TRS cable or sumn like that.
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 8 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delayed response. I think if you want to preserve stereo output, like if you pan any of the sounds in your MPC mixer, then you would need to use the left and right, but if all your sounds are centered you can probably get away with a single output to your interface. Thanks for watching!

so is the main purpose for doing this being able to make a beat externally from your daw just using the mpc, and then being able to put it in fl studio to edit it and add/mix etc. ? great video
@Theaimsociety

Yes. Basically. Some people prefer to use hardware to sequence their drums or to create entire beats and polish them in their DAW this explains how to use the MPC and Fruity Loops to do so. Thanks for the question and Thanks for watching!

this should work the same with my mpc 1000 probably right? also, do you know how I would go about playing a live loop thru the mpc directly on to fl studio?
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 7 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing this would work similarly with the MPC1000. When you saying playing a live loop, are you intending to play live performance and record that straight into FL? If so, I've never tried that before, so I can't really speak on it. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime and see what happens. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the question.
@easymoneyerickson

ya, I had a chance to mess around in my studio and it worked great, also worked good for live playing...I figured if it could work like that then it would be easier to add in a couple sounds on the fly or whatever with your already almost completely tracked out beat....i just had to go get a usb to midi like yours and then everything was fine, my Tascam us-1641 interface wasn't being picked up in fruity loops for some reason.....great vid, lots of help, thanks alot

So is the interface for if you don’t have a midi to usb cable? And also is the interface to connect multiple hardware like a Distortion pad perhaps?
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 6 жыл бұрын
The interface is to allow the audio output from the MPC in to the DAW (FL Studio). The MIDI to USB cable only transmits the MIDI data, no sound. And yes the interface allow you to collect other hardware, sort of like a mixer.

What's good society... Yo.. What is the difference when recording samples in.. L.r.stereo.. In mode... Please educate me.
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 7 жыл бұрын
Yo. I assume you mean the difference between stereo and mono. A stereo signal is split between the left and right channels meaning there are two input sources feeding one output signal. There could be different sounds in the left channel than the right channel or if there the two instruments, say a piano and a guitar, the left channel could have all the audio information from the piano and the right channel have all the audio information from the guitar. This is kinda why stereo cables are split into two, they carry each channel (L and R) separately. A mono signal carries all the audio information together from only input one source to one output signal. I hope that helped some. I don't completely know all the ins and outs of stereo and mono myself but this is my general understanding of it. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!

The AIM Society I know that you weren't sure if you answered my question.. You did.. Spot on.. Thanks for responding.. I'm working on my sampling.. It's like I'm picking the right sound. I just can't get the looping and chopping they way I want... I won't give up watching guys like your self just keeps me motivated.. Thanks... Another question if you don't mind me asking.. Is.. When making a beat do only use tracks or sequence... I'm recording everything on different tracks.. I don't know what to do with the sequence..?? Sorry for thinking knowledge is free... But damn you make it look so easy. Peace.. Stay humble... Society
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 7 жыл бұрын
No problem. I don't mind the questions. It takes time to get things sounding the way you want. Happy to hear you're not getting too discouraged. Usually I use a seperate track for each instrument, and depending on how I want the song to progress, I use different combinations of instruments on each sequence. Say for instance you want a two bar intro with just your sample chops playing...you make that one sequence. Then you want the next sixteen bars to be the verse but you dont want the kick to come in until halfway through (8 bars). In this case, I would make one sequence with everything except the kick, then another sequence with everything including the kick and so on... Hope that helps.

do u know by chance why my mpd 232 might be on a different note than fl studio when in piano roll? for example , i change the pad on the mpd to c4 and when i look in fl studio , the note is playing on c5. so than i assign pad note to c5 and on fl studio it plays note c6. please lmk if you have experienced this and know how to fix it. thank you awesome videos
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 7 жыл бұрын
Jay P I have a MPD18 and I have to use the software called MPD18 Editor to configure the settings. Maybe the MPD32 has editor software you can use to make sure the hardware and FL are in the same octave. Aside from that, I'm not sure, but there might be a way to change it in MIDI settings in FL also. I would check the FL manual for details. Thanks for watching!

ok when u sample do you count snares or kicks
@Theaimsociety
@Theaimsociety 8 жыл бұрын
+Kendonezia Normally when I sample I just find the chops like. I don't even really listen for kicks and snares unless they are obstructing the part I want to use, in which case I try to EQ them out as much as possible on my mixer. Aside from that I only listen for snares and kicks if I am chopping a loop.
