Everything is alright, but do note that at 12:04 you won't have complex roots for the over damped system, but you'll have distinct real roots lying on the left half plane.

but when unequal then what can i do?

@AdityaMishra-pp1gw4 жыл бұрын
There is a factor attached to the wn^2 of the numerator which is :- ratio of the constant attached to the input to the constant attached to the output of the system, and for some reason in every control lecture it's always assumed to be unity and that's where the confusion begins. It's of not much importance as we are only concerned with the denominator and that is the characteristic equation

if numerator and denominator's wn^2 are not equal, then?
@ashish60975 жыл бұрын
then that equation would not be called standard second order equation .. to make that standard eqn we need multiply and divide by factor wn^2..
@AdityaMishra-pp1gw4 жыл бұрын
@@ashish6097 Actually it's not the case. 1) wn^2 is the not the factor. wn is just the natural frequency. 2) there is a factor attached to the wn^2 of the numerator which is :- ratio of the constant attached to the input to the constant attached to the output of the system, and for some reason in every control lecture it's always assumed to be unity and that's where the confusion begins. It's of not much importance as we are only concerned with the denominator and that is the characteristic equation
@ashish60974 жыл бұрын
@@AdityaMishra-pp1gw buddy , I was talking about the standard second order system . The factor term here I used is for value of wn^2 . The factor you are talking about is actually dc gain of system . If the function is not a standard second system , then some formulas will not directly work , one of them is overshoot and to use the same formula we first make standard second order system then extra constant we get will work as dc gain. If you still have any doubt , just search my name at quora . We can discuss there . Have a nice day
@AdityaMishra-pp1gw4 жыл бұрын
@@ashish6097 Hi buddy! Yes, I was talking about the DC gain but did not wanted to mention the term as this term is defined by 'us' when working with steady state response. What I thought the Jack Kabir was asking is whether the constant term attached to both the wn^2 should be equal. And ofcourse the constant attach to the numerator will only come to play when we are giving some response to the system. In the standard second order system as mentioned by you both the constnat of wn^2 will be equal. Still I am not convinced how you told him to multiply and divide by the factor wn^2. If you are mentioning the value of natural frequency as the factor why would one divide and multiply the equation with natural frequency.
@ashish60974 жыл бұрын
@@AdityaMishra-pp1gw the thing I have mentioned about divide and multiply is just to make it standard second order system and that's it . Nothing more than that . As to deal with standard function is much easier as compare to some other function which is not standard . Don't extend the topic and I got your point ;)
