Record MIDI tracks from Cubase to Style Creator

Recording instruments in Style can be done in a variety of ways. This video shows how you can record a MIDI channel from Cubase directly to Style Creator. Some settings are required and minor issues are possible. I have shown all this in a video and I think you will be able to do a similar job.
If you want to create a Style from a MIDI file from the beginning, you can do so using software midi2Stye. In these two videos, I showed the whole process.

Great info! Other question...what is your experience, recommendation to convert styles between Genos and eg Korg PA or Korg 1000?

The conversion of Korg Style to Yamaha Style can be done with EMC Style works XT. However, this sometimes does not give good results. Perhaps the most effective way is to convert Korg Style to MIDI and then create a Yamaha style using software "midi2style". I’m not doing a Korg Style conversion in Yamaha because I already have a really large base of good Styles.

@@WiljanWiljan The principle is the same, open the Yamaha Style in MIDI format and configure it for the Korg specification. Markers have different names but there are other things that need to be set so that the Korg keyboard can play them.

Hello Casper and thanks for your videos. I'm loading the same style I want to edit in Cubase (as a midifile) and in Style creator in the Genos 2. It Works but recorded data from Cubase is not perfectly in sync in Genos (recorded ahead of beat). I can't manage to make it the other way, Genos as master and Cubase as slave to try a maybe beter synchronization...

It is difficult to synchronize Cubase and Genos. It shouldn't be because both are owned by Yamaha. When I edit Style on PC I always use XGWOrsk, it works just fine. I have PSR S970 and want to create psr style using cubase midi data but psr couldn't record any midi data transferred by cubase in style creator.I had tweak all of parameter based on this video.Any suggestion?.

The same procedure is possible on PSR S970. Make sure you have YAMAHA USB midi drivers installed. All MIDI settings in the keyboard are the same as with GENOS.

Hey ! Thanks for the great video. I'm wondering if i can use this method in psr s750. Cause i tried all day to make it work. But im unable to. I followed every steps clearly. The problem is kind of like what you encountered at 6:54 . The external midi plays fine in the keyboard when the keyboard is in the normal homepage state. But it is not plays sound when it is in the style creator mode. Even the small signal indicator near the instrument icon not showing any movement.

Hvala, trudim se ;-) Ne znam, nemam previše iskustva jer nisam to odrađivao osim za potrebe videa. Možda ima previše udaraca istovremeno pa dolazi do "zagušenja" u midi transferu. Ako je to uzrok, pomakni u MIDI file neke udarce za 1 tick prema naprijed. Naprvi test pa ćeš vidjeti kako reagira.

Teško mi je pogoditi što se događa. Što znači kada kažeš da nije "sinhronizovana"? Misliš li na dio koji se snima ili se cijeli ritam poremeti? Primjer koji sam prikazao je kod mene funkcionirao ali su se dogodile neke greške i njih sam objasnio. Da sam radio s nekim drugim MIDI fajlom, možda bi se greške pojavljivale na drugim mjestima. S obzirom da dobro poznam strukturu Styla i principe koji se događaju u pozadini, riješavam probleme koji mi se pojavljuju. Mogu samo predpostavljati zašto se kod tebe događa problem. Da nisi stisnuo više kanala za snimanje odjednom? Možda se na početku, na prvom udarcu nalazeo kontrole pitch bendera ili modulation? Koji verziju Cubase koristiš i da li si filtrirao neke podatke? ....

Drums don't mind if they play, it's more important that they don't record. Drums should not reach channel 11 but channel 10. Check the MIDI settings again.

And when I export instrument info it will not allow me to install it. How it could be done.
