I wish Carousel had been taped. People dont fully understand how important it is to tape things. The beauty and all the work could be spread. Not to mention an historical record.

@@evancarlson1634 sorry I know this is a year ago, but why a battement? I thought battement is always lower, not about elongating the line quite as much as an arabesque

I vividly remember when Carousel first came out in that Winter Season and seeing Kathryn Morgan in Carousel for the first time. I simply loved Carousel, especially the brilliant ending, where the boys are the horses and the girls "ride" them. It was so original. It showed what Christopher Wheeldon was capable of, later seen in his Alice in Wonderland for the Royal Ballet.

I'm 45 next week and will be starting pointe hopefully before the summer. Its so hard learning ballet being so much older but my teacher is so supportive, I'm so lucky she is giving me the chance to do something I've wanted to do my entire life but only now getting the chance. I'm so glad to know someone else is having the same adventure☺
@hhutt62246 жыл бұрын
Maybelline66 you must be so excited! How long have you been taking ballet?
@Maybelline666 жыл бұрын
Heather Harkins I've been with my current teacher for a year and a half, and started with another teacher for a year or two before that in a class with the teenage girls. The girls were lovely but I was made feel though that I didn't matter by the teacher as I was older, so I'm so grateful to my current teacher for her time and more importantly for her corrections- when she's correcting me I know she thinks I'm worth correcting! She's old school hard core though- she won't let you use toe pads when you start pointe as she says you need to feel the floor in your shoes😨

Kathryn, the stories of your NYCB days are so enjoyable to hear! I appreciate how you relate all of the Details so Honestly. I had a short dance career and I spent a very BRIEF time with a major dance company (SFB), where, at one point, I was cast to understudy a Soloist while I was still only a scholarship Student. So, I have some crazy "ballet days" stories of my own!😁 Unfortunately, I never got to dance the soloist rôle, as my dance career was cut short by an accident resulting in a back injury. Anyway, I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Keep up the Good Work!!💙

You are a beautiful dancer but you explain things so well and in an interesting way. Young dancers like teens would benefit so much to be taught by you . Not to stop dancing, you are young, but you are so relatable and so easy to follow. They would learn so much. You have so much to offer. Have you written a book of your experiences? So many people would rush to buy it. You a born dancer but also a born coach or teacher and tender hearted . Many teachers are so unapproachable. Anyone, any age, would be lucky to have you. You are so gifted in so many ways.
