I'm REALLY impressed with your abilities. I'm First Nation and our people have been throat singing since before our recorded history (it's not the exact sound as this, but the basics as far as training your body to do it are the same), I've never heard a non-indigenous person who sounded so natural at it

No problem, keep up the good work! A really good example of our sound is an Inuit woman named Tanya Tagaq (the best quality ones are on her Vevo channel), she's become pretty well-known for combining traditional throat singing with contemporary music

Absolutely! Don't stress your throat. All of this is achievable without strain. While I have yet to understand the more advanced techniques, once I understood how to activate the part of my throat to sing this way - I found it very easy! As a noise, it is bizarre. But absolutely should NOT hurt or strain at all. Please stop what you are doing immediately if you are straining or finding yourself tired afterwards. What I am now finding challenging is isolating the tones and ensuring the breath is very, very steady. i.e. what the F to do with it now I have discovered this alternative way of singing. It's almost like learning how to sing all over again! Thank you for this tutorial and demonstrating the difference between the Western version (which I am barely even getting there now) and the Tuvan method that produces the distinctive sharp, metallic tones.
@HeatherTurner01

And of course on top of that, practice, practice, practice! I imagine it's like normal singing in which practice and muscle memory counts. It's just another part of your vocal range that you can access & learn to control and use.

Thank you so much for this video. I have only found one other real throat singer willing to teach in detail on KZbin, but he wants you to pay for the tutorials. I do think people need to be careful watching these types of videos and trying it just because it is such an advanced skill that needs to be done right, but at the same time it can be fairly easy as long as you have the correct teachings. I'm sort of upset that somebody would want to profit off of something so beautiful and not just show the world like you do. I hope to watch more of your videos in the future and follow you on your adventures!

S Baldwin whatever you do with your voice it should never itch or hurt. Try to change your air column placement : try and get your breath from deep down your belly rather than high in your chest. When this guy says you feel something in your chest, it's the vibration, but the breath itself comes from deeper

I got into throat singing through metal vocals, and they can hurt. So just go easier until you know what to do. There are vocal lubricants for singers you can buy and it helps to do it in short bursts, you can tire your voice out pretty quick doing things the wrong way.

Hi, Jerry! Excellent lessons! For one reason or another, I know how to do the Kargyraa. However, not in the low pitches. Actually, I have been trying to put it in the high pitches. I would like to ask if it is possible to blend traditional singing with Kargyraa. I suspect some rock singers whose style is based on vocal distortion do this type of blending. Thanks. Best regards

@@sarahtonen4873 News flash, pointing out someone's characteristics isn't racist. Drawing conclusions of a person based on those characteristics is racist. You're allowed to call a black person, black. You're allowed to call a white person with a ponytail, white person with a ponytail. Real racism is when you call people "nigger" and start claiming that people aren't equal to you because of their skin color. You're demonizing simple language and making actual racist's lives easy because they can sleep knowing that dumb asses like you aren't targeting them, rather the people making a small joke that has no bad context.

Actually, the point is that his technique is quite off. What he is doing is not using larunx but compressing his vocal cords and stopping the air from coming out. That forces the cords to open periodically to let the air out. Using this technique may cause serious problems with voice, and apparently some people can injure their vocal cords (depends on the width of the cords, that is genetically difined). So, if you really want to learn throat singing I'll suggest that you go to a vocal coach that can teach you things like screaming. That is basically the same technique, but used in a slightly different way. When you really know how to use your rima vestibuli it won't be a problem anymore to figure out throat singing.
@maskcollector6949
@maskcollector6949 5 жыл бұрын
@Zaher Beaini I think he's straining the right muscles but also straining extra muscles in his neck and face which is constricting the bloodflow. Source: I'm a medical massage therapist and I study muscles and my vocal teacher gets onto me about doing this all the time. If what you said was true then just holding your breath would turn your face red, which it typically doesn't. He's still trying too hard, it's not effortless for him yet - he's still getting close enough to teach it and knows a lot more than most teachers about this. He's effectively one step ahead of the class on this one - still struggling at times to perform. It's hard! He's 100% straining too many muscles - even though his sound is right - his technique is concerning and my vocal teacher would stop him and have him relax his neck and turn his head back and forth slowly while doing this. Furthermore, you can actually hear his tension in the voice sometimes. His technique is far from perfect. He would benefit from some time with a vocal teacher who focuses on posture/positioning/tension. He's also forcing the air with too much tension instead of letting it flow out, so it's also his chest cavity with too much tension going on. Unless you've studied muscles professionally or are a vocal teacher I doubt you'd notice. It's clear to me he's stressing out his intercostals a bit much because they move so much on the onset of his sound... His shoulders and posture are also too far forward. I could literally write a paper on how his posture is off because it's my weakness. Postural foundation is key to voice. Just shifting a couple things is the difference between resonance and effortlessness and straining for me, so I assume the same applies for everyone else.

My throat feels like a 300kg grown man covered in razer blades and battery acid slid down my throat and at the same time hadnt cut his nails for 6 years and is clawing my throat walls as hes sliding down and just for good measure rubs his acid reflux he got the night before from eating raw onion, fried spicy pig fat and garlic onto my bleeding throat. Informative vid though, cheers from South Africa. 🎠

Phenomenal instruction. I was able to produce clear overtones after 5 minutes of making an attempt. Now to practice and fine tune. So exciting! Making the bubble sound in the throat to isolate the muscles needed really helped.

I’ve been doing Death Metal vocals since quite sometime now and many people often think that metal and throat singing are the same techniques but it’s not quite so. Death metal growls and screams focus on the diaphragm instead of the chest and their no stress on the throat. Throat singing and metal vocals are almost opposites as they require activation of different parts of one’s throat
