Naoko Takeuchi wrote these lyrics, so how Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask's relationship is portrayed is closer to how it is in the manga than the 90s anime. Sailor Moon wants to be honest about how she feels about Tuxedo Mask, but she can't because she wants to protect him from her dangerous situation. She pushes him away even though all she wants to do is get closer. She uses "amai" to describe him. This means that she thinks he's very sweet (like sugar), but also naive or shortsighted. I think it's because he'll always jump in to protect her, even if he gets hurt or killed. His desire to protect Sailor Moon is innocent, but ultimately leads to tragedy. That's my interpretation anyway! :D
