I use the Tatra 805 as a dedicated "fuel scout" for when I am in the middle of hauling and I run out of fuel. It can take some of the smaller trails that scouts can take so I can get where I need to in a quicker amount of time and it is fairly capable in most terrain (if a little bouncy), and I don't need to drag along a scout fuel trailer.

The acteon was the biggest surprise to me out of any truck I have ever found. It is tippy and it's suspension can be pretty bumpy on hard surfaces, sometimes making you fall over in places you least expected it, yet it can be so ridiculously fun to drive. The little guy just has character. After scouting half of imandra with it on the big chains it gets, it now scouted all of Maine with it using its balloons. It made me hardly use my f750 anymore, although that one clearly is the superior vehicle. But the short wheelbase and auto winch make up for the shortcomings and you can really get it to go anywhere if you want. My only gripe with it is it's narrow steering angle and slow reaction to directional changes. It's rarely an issue when actively going forward, but you'll notice it as soon as you want to reposition yourself to squeeze through a tight space, e. G. In forests

I love Actaeon as a scout. Always running it with basic engine and gearbox (for bigger range and less wheelspin) plus a tanker and 47" Tayga wheels. It's hard to drive but still worth it. Best scout since Spintires (B-66).

I noticed that the Tatra 805 suspension only seems to collapse when you install tayga tyres. I've been using mine as a sort of long range scout, running normal or JAT tyres. Got rid of the roof rack and even with the 900l fuel tank on the back it handled surprisingly well, much more calmly. And as far as I've seen with some very cursory testing (ie making my friends drive my 805) it seems like having the fine control of a throttle pedal over a controller trigger, or god forbid keyboard, makes it much more drivable. It doesn't lurch as much if you feather the throttle in, and without the collapsed suspension, it's more able to deal with the insane power to weight. Still it's got more power than it can handle. It's now my go-to for quickly unlocking the watchtowers on new maps. With effectively 1000l of fuel, oodles of power, good ground clearance, it can go a surprising amount of places.

There is an explanation for this. It would take a minute to explain, but this happens with other trucks as well. Usually dualies have what’s called rear mass scale which makes them double the weight and they also stiffen the suspension. Good example is on the Tayga 6436. With the Tatra 805 I’m gonna have to look into this as well if the JATs have a higher rear mass scale than others for that truck

another 805 pro to add is portal hubs imo, while it might not help at traversing deep mud, it does help in boulders and rock crawl situations where ground clearance matters and it got damaged a lot less by lake kovd ice shards(?) where the warthog and actaeon's suspension got totalled

Great review Nathan. After watching your video I've decided to use the Tatra as my starting truck in The Don in hardmode. I'll use Tatra's only after unlocking the Force and Phoenix. Still have Papermill C, American truck trip and the train mission to go in Wisconsin using mainly the Paystar 5600ts and Paystar 5070 and then I move to the Don. Wish me luck.

I run these trucks with UOD II tires. They seem to get better grip with them than the mud tires since they're light trucks.

It would certainly make more sense since the Actaeon has alot more frame room for the trailer to maneuver. I also just like the Actaeon in general because of all the good times I had driving the B-66 in Mudrunner.

I like the Step 33-64 Crocodile, with the tank, there is no limit - so much power, and the sound!! So nice. And even WITH the tank more stable as the TUZ 16 f.e. I also like the TUZ 16 Actaeon / Unimog :D . Both are good russian "4x4 offroad scouts"

My opinion of the Warthog and Actaeon changed dramatically when I switched tires from mud to UOD II. Dramatic improvement to driving feel, imo. I only equip mud tires on these vehicles if I have a specific job to do in a marsh or bog.

Oh yes the UODs allow the tire to bite down more that the balloons. That’s the trade off is grip opposed to buoyancy and stability

Same. Though, chucking this thing through the woods down a hillside with the fuel carrier attachment is about the most fun I've had in Snowrunner yet. Doing the same with the big balloons makes it a pain to get back up on its feet again, but it's totally viable. I think that the Autonomous Medium winch could have its strength dropped a bit. Enough that it can maybe just get itself up on its feet without balloon shoes. Would reduce that creep on the scout class, but it'd still be mad useful.

I'm just playing Lake Kvod and the TUZ 16 is a favourite.(Is like a Russian Unimog) perfect for those single cargo missions and the crane is really handy. I'm using the tires with chains as the balloon ones didn't really work for me. I like that is hard to drive it makes it really fun and can go everywhere. Nathan I know you are a controller guy but If you ever got the chance try Snowrunner with a force-feedback steering wheel , the experience is amazing.

I was waiting for this review for so long but anyway Think the TUZ 16 "Actaeon" is a great truck I was able to do the Taymyr radioactive fossils mission with the raised suspension and 47inch tires with the sideboard bed and sideboard bed trailer with crane and it mostly got all the way there and back but it got stuck I was very impressed though

@@NProvince True, wish Saber would adjust the fuel tanks though. 150L would be good for this truck. And for the love of god give the Marshall it's original 80L tank bank. No car should have 40L, not even the Don. At least give that thing 60L like the TUZ166. The Apache could use a bigger tank as well. At least give it a 110L like we see in other bigger scouts like the Yar, though with it's consumption the Apache could do with closer to 120L.

From my experience and my driving style I do not agree with your opinion on Warthog and Tatra. I had a feeling that Warthog wanted to flip anywhere outside of garage. I used it on Don region and sold it right after I finished it. I couldn't trust that truck. On the other hand Tatra seems like it's having some kind of magnet that is keeping it glued to the surface. I'm using it as a support/heavy scout vehicle it's awesome. It sure struggle in deep mud due to small tires and low weight but I never got stuck in there with this truck. It small size also allows to look for the non obvious paths between the trees and so on. And one more thing that I would count toward pros. It has the cutest horn in game ;)

Hey thank you for the comment! Thats fair and completely understandable. You are welcome to disagree freely and I respect that. We all have our own experiences with these vehicles. I did however say that the tatra backbone saved me quite a bit due the nature of that suspension. Also I did say that the warthog sometimes felt it had some balance to it because of its weight characteristics.

I feel the 108 to be the worst. Low fuel tank addon capacity, low saddle is redundant and stability with a crane is questionable (thinking of the loadstar crane add on here). While you could use the fuel tanker add on it does influence the suspension greatly. You're left with a one-slot-cargo bed and a repair add on (+roof supplies). Additionally the stability is bad too. For what I'd be using it plenty of vehicles would do a better job. Quite the shame, I do like the looks of this vehicle a lot! If anything as it stands I'd recommend it as a cash injection.

Nathan if you see this I have a question for you. You mentioned 50'' tires being a benchmark but why are they a benchmark even if a vehicle has a good approach angle and little to no drag aside from in it's axels?

Good question. So 50" is my personal benchmark of when a tire is considered large. all those things you mentioned are good and the Step 39331 has smaller tires and still has decent ground clearance. I think the only way a tire size wouldnt be considered performance inhibiting is if the tire has bouyancy in mud, kinda like these vehicles here. The balloons allow for them to traverse deep mud because they dont sink. Another personal benchmark is weight. From my experience and testing trucks under 10 US tons tend to struggle as far as grip is concerned. These benchmarks are my personal standards

Was this on COOP? That actually is a glitch that I noticed only in coop games when I started NG+. Still on my normal/ hardmode games they are still unchanged

I have been playing since the games release and have had conversations with support many times with bugs. But the tires look so good with stock height I was hopeful.
