TV Highway's Future and my Thoughts

TV Highway is a huge part of my life. I lived right off of it for almost 16 years, so I'm quite excited to see improvements finally being planned. It fits the definition of "stroad" perfectly. Unfortunately, this is the last talking-head style video I have for now. It has become a bit more difficult to film for my channel since I started working. The bus and train ride videos are still good for a while, so you'll still get those every Friday.

I also lived in the same-ish area as you did for a bit longer than you (not right on TV highway but pretty near it) so I definitely agree with you completely. I always have avoided going near TV highway when biking and even when driving it sucks to drive on during rush hour. Hope these improvements make it a lot nicer and safer to bike along, would love to be able to bike down to the different places on TV highway without having to go through neighborhoods and backroads to avoid TV highway.

As far as the buses themselves, do you think Trimet would purchase a whole new set of buses or just move some of the existing FX buses from Powell Garage to Merlo Garage?

They would get new buses for the project. I don't remember where I read this (it was in a project meeting awhile ago), but they mentioned the goal is to acquire electric buses for this project. What I don't know is if they'll mix the fleet like how the MAX types can run anywhere. Will the FX fleet be mixed with new and old buses out of Powell and Merlo? That would be cool, but I honestly don't know

@@trimet101 OK, thanks for the info. I live in unincorporated Clark County, WA, so I'm not very familiar with Trimet, but I do feel pretty familiar with C-TRAN. I didn't realize that based on how many buses they have on FX2 at a time, there wouldn't be enough buses. I've seen that Trimet was considering articulated electric buses from BYD and New Flyer for use on FX2 originally, but they didn't meet Trimet's requirements for the FX2 project. Similarly, as part of the Highway 99 and East Fourth Plain Vine projects, C-TRAN ordered 15 New Flyer XD60s in February of this year. Their zero-emission transition plan originally called for them to purchase 14 60-foot and 8 40-foot buses for delivery in 2025, all of which would've been hydrogen fuel cell buses. I am a student at WSU Vancouver, and at an event showcasing a new WSU Vancouver bus wrap, I asked C-TRAN Deputy CEO Scott Patterson when C-TRAN would buy hydrogen buses, and he said that they were still trying to get funding for those, but they were hoping to get some by 2026 or 2027, and that there could be up to 20 of them. Gillig recently announced that they're working with BAE Systems and Ballard Power Systems to introduce hydrogen fuel cell buses into their lineup, so C-TRAN might be one of the first customers to purchase those.
