The venture bros movie is a great example of a tv show movie because it puts a super nice bow on so many characters and their relationships with other characters, and it also has some amazing and beautiful scenes. It does come with homework though and you’d have to catch up on the show if you haven’t seen it. I’m loving the series so far!!

Thank you! There's a lot of shows I need to watch in order to cover the movies properly and I've decided Venture Bros will be the first one I watch, since I've wanted to watch that show for a while anyways. Probably won't be in volume 3 or 4, but I will definitely cover it.

My personal favorite is Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. That movie is a masterpiece, even watching it standalone without the context of the show, the film is great.
@trenchgremlin26643 ай бұрын
Since this one was about movies that act as finales to their shows, it could be interesting to talk about the opposite: movies that act as pilots for a show like the Jimmy Neutron and Barnyard movies. It would be a nice change of pace to see how well they introduce the world and characters instead of how they expand on it. And since the show comes after, it often evolves past what the movie tried to do (the Barnyard movie is trying to be somewhat serious and emotional, and if you’ve seen the show, you know how far they throw that out the window). Pilot movies are basically bizarro TV movies.

This idea has been brought up by a friend of mine a few times and I'm open to it. I like your idea of making it all one volume. I'm leaning towards yes on doing those.

Really been loving this series! I always thought movies based on shows was an interesting concept. Would definitely love to see you cover the Phineas and Ferb movie: across the second dimension as that’s probably one of my favorites based on a childhood cartoon next to the Spongebob movie.

First of all, I'm loving this series. I havent even watched half of these shows and I'm finding this super interesting! You're a great presenter. In terms of a recommendation, I'd say the recent(relatively) Hilda And The Mountain King movie that stands between seasons 2 and 3, or The Wild Thornberries movie. I saw a quick clip in there and I feel there's a lot to talk about with that one.
@spinynorman063 ай бұрын
@xaviere1644 Thank you! I didn't realize Hilda and the Mountain King was a movie. I'll try to get to that series when I can so I can cover the movie.

This video reminded me of a conversation I had with my friend the other day about the Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place movies and how they were basically ‘finales’ (Miley revealing her secret identity to a bunch of people, the wizard siblings doing their wizard trials), but since they aired while the shows were still going on, their endings were basically reversed and had no bearing on the shows’ stories whatsoever (Miley telling the people she revealed her identity to to keep it a secret, the wizards having their memories wiped and going back to normal). Then of course, the shows’ actual finales/final seasons did these exact same plot lines for real this time, except with less impact since they blew their load already with the movie. It’s like the people who made these movies wanted to have their cake and eat it too, and as a result, the movies were essentially irrelevant and the shows’ finales lost a lot of emotional payoff. Anyways, you should cover the Regular Show movie and maybe the Drake and Josh movie(s). And the Star Wars The Clone Wars movie too if that counts.

reccomendations: the avgn movie, kickassia, teen titans trouble in tokyo, and teen titans go to the movies (have the theme be 2 sides of a similar coin. avgn vs channel awesome, teen titans ‘03 vs GO!)

There are also some tv show movies from tv shows and cartoons for little little kids too, like Thomas the tank engine and friends (Yes I still call it that because I mostly like the original) has Thomas and the magic railroad, Barney the dinosaur had a movie, and Sesame Street has Elmo in Grouchland and Clifford’s big movie from 2004 which was more tied to the PBS tv show.

Futurama is an interesting case because it got 4 movies that were supposed to end the series but then the show got picked up again. Daria also got two movies but in that case one was in the middle of the series while the other movie concluded it.
@spinynorman063 ай бұрын
@deepfried.mayonnaise I do think I'll cover the four futurama movies at some point. It's weird because it felt like another season of the show with multi part episodes, but I believe all parts were released together, so its probably fair to call it a tv movie.

*sigh* I know i am gonna get some looks from people but i truly recommend The End of Evangelion. Not only is it an adaptation that surpasses the original series but it's really interesting as an art piece and complements the original series. Either that or full steam ahead on Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. Seriously that movie was way better than the show. I don't know if I watched a bad episode or something but the movie provided better comedy and far more memorable moments.

@21stCenturyGuy honestly you're not even the first person to reccomend it. I'll definetly get to Evangelion eventually. I do want to watch the entire show first with that one though. Beavis and Butthead Do America will happen much sooner.

BREAKING BAD SPOILERS AHEAD: I kind of like the shoot off scene from el Camino because it shows a resolution to the plot point started when Jesse killed gale. Where then he was absolutely traumatized for his role in the murder, which was followed up later in the scene where he starts bugging when he has to defend Mike and Gus by shooting a cartel member (portrayed by the camera flashing back in forth rapidly like he’s in a panic, which is definitely for multiple reasons but the whole trauma thing is definitely a part of it), and finally concluded in El Camino where he’s learned to try and take the peaceful route when he can (asking the criminals politely for money) then only retaliating when he has no other option (the only way he’ll get it is by winning a shoot off). You could say he could’ve just not taken up their offer, but I feel like they weren’t gonna take no for an answer, which Jesse saw. Jesse goes from being completely traumatized by murder to being able to do what needs to be done only when it’s absolutely necessary. And it’s not like it’s easy either, after he kills the guy he’s clearly shaken as he is breathing heavily and on the verge of tears, showing that he retains his compassion and is still affected during and by his later murders (unlike Walt).
@spinynorman063 ай бұрын
@thetrashman1120 That's a pretty interesting point. I don't think it's terrible, I just think maybe more could have led to it. Like maybe if the guy he was having the shoot out with was more present in the movie. Still, what you said does give the scene some purpose. I'm sure they had intentions with that scene I'm just not seeing, I just think as a whole it could have been executed better.
@thetrashman11203 ай бұрын
@@spinynorman06 that’s fair. As a whole I feel the movie is unnecessary, but it doesn’t ruin the ending of the show for me and it’s got a lot of good scenes, next time though I might just skip the movie and watch the scenes I liked on KZbin

I actually was really into "Drawn Together". Yeah, the show had some flaws, but really have enjoyed it. Then the movie came out, and as much as I hoped for a comeback before seeing, afterwards I wasn't thinking "Ooof, I don't think the show is coming back", I outright did not want that to happen, because it was like a betrayal of what I liked about the series to begin with....
@spinynorman063 ай бұрын
I like it, but I understand why so many people don't hahaha. I think the first two seasons had some really solid episodes, maybe there was a few in the third one that I liked, but the show took a dip in quality for sure. There was even an interview with the creators, where they flat out admitted to not trying as hard during the final season. Maybe that was just a joke on their part, but I could believe it. But compared to the movie, season 3 is amazing.
