TV signoff "Air Force" anthem films + WREX sign-on/sign-off 1995-1999

This is not an aircheck; instead, this is a capture from WREX's promo archive reels. This was on reel #100, the first DVCPRO promo reel in the tape closet, obviously dubbed over from an earlier Beta reel.
Dates for the sign-on and sign-off are estimated: WREX switched to NBC in 1995, and a newer signoff was dated 1999 on its slate (stay tuned for that one)
I upscaled it to 960x720 so that KZbin could play it in 60-frame progressive (I'm pretty sure the 480 resolution is 30 max still).
I have no way of knowing when we started using the Air Force films, but we stopped around 2008 or 09 when we finally went all-infomercials on weekend overnights.

These two songs were recorded for the Air Force in the early '80s by the "Vocal Majority" chorus from Dallas, now the 13-time International Champion Barbershop Chorus in the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Air Force added the video and they were used at Air Force bases worldwide in base theaters at the beginning of each showing of a movie. TV stations across the country picked them up to use as the "sign-off" at the end of the broadcasting day. Today, the chorus still sings "The National Anthem", only with a slightly different arrangement and interpretation. The arrangements were done by Jim Clancy, our longtime director (40 years!) and now the Executive Director. His son Greg now directs the chorus.

+Jared DiCarlo The choral group The Vocal Majority confirmed for me that they did the music for the Aim High videos in 1980 for the USAF (The National Anthem and The Air Force Hymn.) It was contract work and they did not release recordings of them, but I really wish they had for that version of the Air Force Hymn because it is so great. But The Vocal Majority does have a large catalog of CD music.

In our country they do shut down.. Somewhere around 12MM-7:59 AM they sign off. Then after that the openings pop. Im not sure if other countries do this also but when we sign off nor sign on they always show the engineer's who operate on the television line. Also they show their PCE numbers.

I remember watching both of these videos in Arnold Hall at the Academy in the early 1990s. The Academy Staff did a good job of keeping cadets focused on and dreaming about where we were headed during what seemed like four interminable years. The beauty of the Air Force Hymn coupled with aircraft stayed in my memory for over two decades, and years ago prompted me to look it up on KZbin.
