The time to wait b4 remarrying is determined by various factors , some spouse remarry quickly so to avoid depression, some health ground, some economic reasons ( fin. support ) some children age , etc.

This is only a problem in other parts of Nigeria except in the North. In North as a Muslim you can remarry after 3 months. No one will raise an eyebrow
