This is a commendable excellent speech, even though I am not a supporter of Sanusi’s. I trust that he has learned some lessons and will be better on the throne this time around. Sanusi talked all the good talks when he wasn’t in office but became a disaster who catered only to the wealthy once he became CBN Governor and Emir. I hope that he will do better this time around.

When he was the emir of Kano, I recalled that he was advocating for the education of girls which is a menace that has pillaged the Northern states, and i stand to be corrected, I still recalled that he was dethroned because of the outward way in which he spoke about the mismanagement of the state resources.

When a Fulani okada rider kidnapped/impregnated a minor in Bayelsa state, and hid the minor in Emir Sanusi’s palace, what was his action? As CBN governor, he unilaterally bailed out corporations that didn’t even ask to be bailed out, how many impoverished communities did he once bail out? He arbitrarily threw out largesse after largesse from CBN coffers to academic institutions based on his parochial choices, instead of from the point of uplifting all academic institutions in Nigeria through a collectively pooled funding for all of them. How about the poor who daily trooped to his palace asking for handouts -- he claimed to have shaded tears when a mother lost a child because she had no money to purchase medicine for headaches. Did Emir Sanusi institute a health center in his domain to ameliorate the dire situation? He could have done so through his powerfully wealthy friends, the same friends who sent a private jet to evacuate his family when he was overthrown, the same friends who have financially supported his affluent living since he was thrown out office. Sanusi was a failure while he was in various offices, folks are just fooled by his rhetoric and their collective amnesia. Hopefully, his experiences during the ordeal of this overthrow and reinstatement will make him a better leader this time around.

In as much as we like SLS to be back as the one and ultimate king of Kano, his outburst and slippery comments on politics will always give him away. This is his first day in office, but already making political comments and covering the APC-led govt. APC was in power from 2015-2023, and they are still in power and he is still saying that the last administration messed up the country and PBAT is struggling to correct it. Well, PBAT knows exactly the situation of the country, he was an accomplice in the last administration, he enabled the merger and has about 15 ministers and 18 governors that he fully supported in the government. No excuse for BUHAR and no excuse for BOLA.
