I recovered the roof on my car a few years ago and my hardtop was definitely fibreglass .. I think a few more of these vids will restore my mojo for completing the "jobs" I started on mine a few years ago and getting it back on the road ..

A little Chimaera flavoured sorbet, tasty. My experience with DoT5 wasn't great, every nook and cranny must be absolutely 100% clean or any moisture collects in dead corners as it doesn't amalgamate within the fluid like DoT4. Not sure I'll use it again unless I was building a brand new system from scratch.
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
I'll be starting with a dry system to be fair.

I bought the 450 in the end. Done best part of a thousand miles so far and attended 3 shows with my son. Loving TVR life up here in Blackpool. Have to say the 450 hits the nail on the head for feeling special.

Glad to hear it!

I feel for you trying to get all that out. Not easy. Instead of the silicone fluid for the brakes, would the Citroen green fluid for their suspension work better?
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
I did wonder this, but it would need a different type of rubber seal in all the components, whereas the silicone doesn't (but it does need seals that aren't pre-contaminated with DOT4).

Great video. What's the reason for changing to dot 5?
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
To avoid issues with corrosion. The master cylinders in these cars have a habit of playing up if left sat for a while.

I need some progress so I start a other project. At the end I can make a car out all the bits and bobse
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
It's about keeping everything ticking over. If you let any of them stall, that's when you get problems.
@thedeadstig123 Жыл бұрын
see it alot with master cylinders, factory one will last nearly 20 years and your aftermarket replace might last 5 years if your lucky
@EVguru Жыл бұрын
Pack the new mastercylinder boot with red rubber grease. I do this with all master, slave and wheel cylinders to greatly discourage (nolt going to say prevent) corrosion.

How about a vauxhall Agila engine and gearbox for Hilda.?
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with the engine in Hilda (other than the fact it's too powerful for the transmission, really). Is a Vauxhall Agila engine not transverse too?
@waynedl99 Жыл бұрын
@16:00:00 - I hope you mean DOT5.1 not DOT5 which isn't compatible with DOT4 systems
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
I mean DOT5. It's not compatible with systems that have once had DOT4 in, but with new seals/components it's fine, from what I've read. But then this is why I'm doing it on my own car, not a customer's.

Shame they didn't galvanize the chassis. Even Reliant galvanized their chassis back then 😊
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
It's an enclosed tubular chassis, much trickier to do. Reliant chassis is just pressed beams so dead simple to galvanise, but to make one strong enough for the TVR it'd need to be ridiculously heavy and big.

I have a 1993 tvr chimaera 4litre hc just put a new roof on mine
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
A HC on 1993? Are you sure, they didn't come out until 1995!
@shauntvr4312 Жыл бұрын
@UPnDOWN it has gas flowed heads from the factory I mite be rong about it being a hc
@UPnDOWN Жыл бұрын
Ahh, it's better than a HC! Those early 400s were nearer a genuine 220-230bhp, unlike mine which would be lucky to be kicking out 200! If the badge says 400 with '250' underneath, that's a result! HC replaced the 4.3. Nowhere near as good though.
