The cerebera made me a tvr nut when it first came out I was 15 now 37 and still love them. 4.5 best spec but those tuscan light's don't work as well as the originals. The viper I love particularly in that colour with the stripe like a relatively modern shelby daytona coupe, there both fantastic just need that lottery win.

Everytime I watch a video like this, every year it sinks in more that 1. Cars like this will never again be built. 2. Cars like this that have been built will never cost as little as they do now. And right now im the furthest away ive been from affording to get one, and I will be further away next year.

Everyone can have an opinion. Everyone can have their own unique taste. But if anyone has the nerve to trash either of these cars, deserves to be thrown in a mental hospital. Both of these cars where given high praises by journalist, race car drivers, and everyday people around the world for decades. And here I am in the comment section seeing either *A.* a bunch of eurotrash yuppie/hipster wannabes shitting on the Viper, knowing there was a time they had the same Viper posted on their walls when they where younger. Or *B.* I bunch red white and blue blooded patriots shitting on the TVR because "It ain't from good ol' Murica". At the end. No matter what your taste is. Or where you *COME* from... You *HAVE* to respect *BOTH* of these cars for what they do. Bringing joy to the lives of millions of gear heads everywhere! *DONE*

The Viper was nothing but a power house. It was heavy, handled poorly, and was seriously underbraked. Numbers of prod-class races in the day would see them out front for a few laps due to their power advantage, to only then run out of brakes, and have the field catch and pass them. And of course the fuel bills were staggering.

TVR is in a different league. If you are worried about reliability, in Essex and maybe elsewhere a garage upgrades the parts that are a common issue and makes them reliable, it costs a pretty penny but afterwards the only negative to the TVR is the safety aspects lol and basically the TVR motto of "Don't crash then" just continues. I'd love to own a few TVR's, theyre so wacky and different while still being amazing and unique English cars.

TVR’s late 90’s early 00’s designs have definitely dated better than the first gen viper. And that vipers interior just looks shite. Also the random parts TVR used mainly came from British/EU models of cars so they’re way easier to find here than the GM parts bin selection the Vipers made of.
@Epotheros
@Epotheros 4 жыл бұрын
The Viper was all about performance per dollar while sacrificing everything. The Viper was a significantly superior track car to the TVR, but its interior was significantly worse. Also, the Viper is a Dodge so it would have more parts in common with Lamborghini and Mercedes in the late 90s than it would have with GM.
@ErosGalaxia
@ErosGalaxia 2 жыл бұрын
@@Epotheros in no way the Viper is the better track car. The Cerbera weighs 1,000 lbs less and has 37 more HP. It’s the lightness thats gives it a huge advantage over the Viper. What was the point of Dodge sacrificing everything but performance when TVR gave you everything and performance while still being slightly cheaper than the Viper and offering arguably better performance. The Cerbera hunted down supercars of it’s time and always has been the underdog.

They built two prototypes Peter Wheeler himself tried the road car and said they wouldn't build it. If he thought it was too powerful, I'm inclined to agree. It was a car with modern hypercar specs but built with late 90's technology. A Koenigsegg One:1 built 15 years too early.

@@gerardmontgomery280 Peter Wheeler never drove the Speed 12. It's a myth. He was 6'5'' and I couldn't get in it at 6'1'', so he certainly couldn't. I was with W112BHG a few weeks ago, just before it went to auction, and it is a mighty impressive car. Justin Daley I despise the interiors of TVRs, genuinely don't know what was going on in the design front, or why the hell they proceeded to do the same idiocy in every model. You can be in no doubt that Peter Wheeler would have been very familiar with the CV8. Not only the radical front-end styling, but the recessed shut-lines to hide poor fibreglass fitting tolerances, to the similar roof/side-glass profiles. Unfortunately there's only one and the owner has turned down eye watering offers for it.. You will soon be able to buy what is in effect a speed 12 replica homage from Helical Technologies. It's called the TR and is a 6litre V12 twin turbo putting out 1018hp in standard form.. HT engineers and staff are mostly ex TVR and they've already tested two prototypes.. A road car and a racing version...

Funny, as a Brit I'd have the snake. Guess it's a mater of the grass being greener on the other side. That said I love this 90's to early 2000's generation of TVRs, they where the last proper British sport car manufacturer.

I don't "Have" to love the Viper. 'Cause I don't. TVR'll break the second you breathe on it but the Viper is just so...uninspiring. The only defence I seem to hear is "But it has an 8l V10" - which is a shit argument because it's one of the worst damn power-to-capacity engines I can think of. At least the TVR gets decent power for the engine size - sounds better too.

You talk about "shit argument" and then you mention HP/L as if it was something important? LOL
@ThePandaBeat
@ThePandaBeat 8 жыл бұрын
+Lewis Taylor First of all, we are talking about sportscars. Arguing about HP/L in this context is completely pointless. It's like having a hammer to hit a nail, hit said nail without problems and then arguing that it's a "shit" hammer because it's made of iron instead of chrome-vanadium or other alloy. Pointless. Stupid. Second, you imply that there's some kind of relationship between displacement and "quality"... that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. Third. If you see a Viper and you immediately think of the size of the penis of the owner, there's a big chance that you might be a faggot.

+ThePandaBeat is correct, your argument over engine efficiency is invalid here. Your implication is that there is only one good formula for high performance, and you criticize the Viper for not meeting your ideal. Then it's not the car for you, simple as that. As was mentioned in the review, the low end torque of the 8.0 V10 was quite considerable. But it's worth noting that the V10 was quite under tuned from the factory. Power levels of anywhere between 500 and 1,000+ horses are possible from that engine through various means… And comparing the engine notes of a relatively small displacement flat plane V8 and a V10 is just a matter of opinion, they're both acoustic oddballs.

Neither of them sound particularly good. The TVR sounded a lot better with the Rover cross-plane crank V8, but it's certainly the prettier and more desirable of the two. However, I would want to swap the AJP-8 for a Speed Six straight-six or an LS V8 - probably an LS7. Stronger, more reliable, more powerful and sounds better. Likewise if I had a Viper, I'd drop a 6.1 Hemi V8 in there...

Well, the whole point of Viper is its gargantuan V10 engine. It was literally built around it. As was the Cerbera, when Wheeler realised their new engines just won't fit into Chimaera and Griffith. They both sound unique, too, Viper's engine sounds lazy, american V8-style, but being a V10, it has a completely different, more noble tone, while Speed8 is the exact opposite- it is screamy and fast-revving like some hot hatch engine, but it is still a large V8. These engines are a big part of their character, probably even the cornerstones of it, and swapping either of these for a plain Hemi V8 is like putting one into a Ferrari, blasphemi (pun intended). And you can find factory Speed6 Cerberas, anyway.

The old rover v8 tvrs just sound like every other v8 on the road - lovely, and not very exotic. The ajp engines were brutal - hard and loud - a great sound. Nothing else sounds like these engines. Why on earth would you swap in a common as muck generic v8?! If you had a modern corvette you'd be better off swapping a tvr v8 in.

Malc180s the AJP is just a harsh, blaring sound, thanks to its flat plane crank. Cross plane cranks are much more refined and generally nicer to live with. Why you'd want to swap out an LS for an AJP I can't imagine...
