Before the war, very few in the West ever thought about Russia. Only those that became addicted to its fossil fuels, weapons and bribes could give a sh*t. After this war is over, even fewer people around the world will think of Russia, because Russian leverage (worthless weapons, less dependence on its fuels, no Wagner) will be almost zero. And, yes, Russia should be broken up and neutered so it no longer poses a threat to its neighbours. It should lose its leadership standing at the UN and all other international bodies.
@suicidalbanananana
@suicidalbanananana Жыл бұрын
I'd agree that ideally Russia breaks up in the countries it was before the Soviet Union, but that's quite a big change, if they could just change government that would be a much smaller change without creating a lot of drama and uncertainty for the civilians who clearly dont have a clue what's actually going on in their government. Any step towards improvement would be good, it doesn't have to be the end of Russia. To be pretty damn blunt, Germany still exists as well, they sure did a good job turning their country around, as much as i do believe that 'Russia shattering' would be good, i also feel like Russia should at least have the opportunity to make amends, it's obviously gonna be a long process and its going to cost Russia a bunch of money (for repairs), but it should be possible, we've forgiven countries for much worse.

@@suicidalbanananana Germany was utterly destroyed, militarily, before it turned itself around, Berlin overrun, their parliament burned to the ground. I don't think anyone in the West thinks this will happen to Russia. The war will likely destroy Russia economically, but the goal here is only to force the Russians out of Ukraine, which will also probably lead to the end of Putin's regime. Whether the Russian people decide to try to reform Russia or not after that will be up to them.

You are such an ignorant fellow. You know nothing about geopolitics and natural resources distribution on earth. In the 90s Russia cooperated extensively with the west and what happened?. The west only used Russia and turned it as a fuel and gas station. Those were that lows in Russia's history. Its the dream of the west to break up Russia into several states just as they did to Yugoslavia and its real. Russia knows what its doing just as the west also knows what they are doing. These Russians demonizing their own country are the weakest links that are easily patronized by the west. They have no idea of what is going on.

I'd like to be compassionate about Russian soldiers dying too, except I believe trustworthy media about all the rape and torture and Russian soldiers laughing. 'A U.N. report says Russian forces committed an array of war crimes, including summary executions, torture, rape and other acts of sexual violence against Ukrainian civilians.' What could be the 'other acts of sexual violence' aside from rape? Perhaps the rape of children?
@Kuksha_51
@Kuksha_51 Жыл бұрын
Since when have you mourned every life lost? If from 2022, then you are eight years late. Since 2014, Russia has called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Russia proposed the Minsk agreements, the implementation of which was guaranteed by Germany and France. But as Angela Merkel later said, Ukraine did not intend to implement the Minsk agreements, but used this time to prepare its army for a new war. Then Zelensky made a tour to the USA, Britain and EU countries, where he received guarantees of support, after which he refused to implement the Minsk agreements and began hostilities again.

How did Russia implement the Minsk agreements. Did they withdraw their forces from the territories? Did they carry out free and fair elections? Did they prevent ‘separatists’ from bombing or shelling Ukrainian held territory? Did they stop anti-Ukrainian propaganda? We could go through the entire Minsk agreement and there is no part which Russia upheld. The Minsk agreements were a Russian delaying tactic. Their forces had failed to take and hold large parts of eastern Ukraine twice. They used the time to attempt to rebuild their forces, consolidate power in Belarus and plan for a new invasion. They never negotiated in good faith, just like every international agreement they signed up to. The EU and the US were naive to believe the Minsk II was the end.

"Not an inch east" was said to the Soviet Union (if said at all, Gorbachev denies that it was said) - not Russia. Russia controlled the Soviet Union and occupied surrounding countries made up of other ethnic groups who did not want the Russians there and therefore ran to join NATO after the communist Russian empire collapsed. I'm always amused when Russia and China accuse the west of imperialism - the west, unlike Russia and China gave up their occupied empire after WW2. Well, France kind of did.

This reminds me of the following story: it takes place in a madhouse. One of the inmates, a man who has lost his mind, wonders what could be behind the high surrounding walls. He takes a ladder and climbs to the top of the wall. He sees a lot of people, coming and going. He says to himself: "It really looks like there are a lots of people in there". That is what these Russian conspiracy theorists make me think of when they tell us that it was the West that attacked Russia. Delusional or liers. Or both. All options are bad.

Pyatt: Yeah I saw that. Nuland: OK. He's now gotten both Serry and [UN Secretary General] Ban Ki-moon to agree that Serry could come in Monday or Tuesday. We must see the so called (military and technological) power of Russia in perspective. Russia is a huge country in square km, but only has 146 million inhabitants. This is 40% of USA or Eurozone. The GDP of Russia however is only 4% of the GDP of the Eurozone + USA, this is equal to the GDP of the small countries Belgium + Netherlands. And less than the GDP of the state of California. Relatively (per capita) the GDP of Russia is very low. Beside that the economy of Russia has signs of a 3th world economy. Half of the income is coming from oil & gas. Based on this, Russia isn’t a world power. And for sure, it isn’t a economic power. This is the reason they can’t build up and maintain a big army. The army they already have is far beyond normal proportions in relation to their GDP. This hurts their budgets and prosperity permanently. In this perspective, Russia is a dictatorship with a huge inferiority complex and dangerous megalomaniac ambitions. The path they chose will be their downfall.

According to the study, it would take about ten to a hundred 'super nukes' to end humanity plus see this NATO attack: 14,500 have died in Libya 165,000 have died in Afghanistan 224,000 have died in Syria 1,200,000 killed in Iraq It did not shock anyone. None of these countries received approval. Ironically, it isn't Russia itself that is the problem. It is the people running the show. The Russian people need to find a way to rid themselves of this stupidly pointless Leninist psyche, and find a way to a fresh start......

The perception of a military alliance is one of the issues. The USSR had one the Warsaw Pact but it was imposed on the countries involved. The narrative from the Kremlin sees NATO as a forced alliance which most Russians see as well. The fact two countries until recently did not join but were perfect candidates for joining if NATO were Finland and Sweden. NATO would have long ago dragged them in. You basically have the Baltic Sea in the alliance. Countries ask to join so it is not about NATO but about why they want to join so the shocker here was the last two joining after all these years. The other part related is the reason the war has gone so badly for Putin, the idea that he pushes the narrative and it seems believes himself that Ukraine is a Western puppet. Putin tells his people this and the twisted logic is they will be made to join NATO against their will. . If he was right we would be here now talking about a war that ended 18 months ago but it is not and the fact his Minister for Defence cannot see an end even before 2025 tells you this. The West did not send weapons at first as they expected Ukraine to fall so no point giving them to Putin but another shock was how fiercely the locals fought and in no small part due the the Russian telling a whole country and people are not real. Russian propaganda is aimed at Russians so is extremist and has the opposite effect in the West.

In some ways NATO IS a forced alliance, forced by the Russians and their constant aggression. We saw that very recently when two countries who have maintained neutrality for several decades and had almost no interest in becoming NATO members suddenly virtually PLEADED to join NATO, ASAP, with the percentages of their population's support quadrupling almost overnight to overwhelming majorities. Obviously, I am not arguing with your point, but just pointing out a different point of view on the possible interpretation of 'forced'. :-) Slava Ukraini!

Watch some TVP if you don't. They always put clown noses on the Solvyov crowd, and in one case ran a laugh track, which was friggin hilarious. I was watching it in bed on the laptop and was trying not to make any noise, while shaking and laughing to tears, because my wife was asleep beside me, and she doesn't take very kindly to being awakened that way, not that I blame her. I have learned to NEVER watch Ze Frank's True Facts under those conditions. If you haven't seen it, go take a look, but not while your other half is asleep beside you. You have been warned. It is some of the funniest stuff on the internet. :-)

They don’t have to believe propaganda from their government, not in the 21st century with the internet & VPN servers to get around government censoring, they believe it because they want to, they want to think Russia is a powerful country with influence in the world and not the pariah state with a garbage military it truly is.

Remember the great patriotic struggle.. What were Hitler's traits.. Blaming every other country for opposing him. Claiming to be the only one who can represent and unite his nations people and lead them to victory. Showed no shame in dive bombing cities. Became reclusive, surrounded by a small band of military generals, many of which died or were dismissed. He had a poor relationship with his family. Believed strength matters more than open democracy. Political opponents met untimely ends. Started by forming a secret police answerable only to himself. Persecuted LGBT and gay people that he fears because as they undermine a male dominated hierarchy agenda. Willing to conscript young men with limited training. Never actually shown his face close to where the conflict was fought. Proclaiming history backed his countries race as superior to those of his neighbours.. Does any of this sound familiar? OK Ukraine has made spectacularly bad mistakes in how people were treated in the Donbas, but the four thousand deaths claim, well that is counting deaths on both sides .. Misrepresentation of data, that is a fascist trait too.
