Awesome job man. I am a fellow cockpit builder and Falcon 4.0 & BMS simmer. I am just amazed with your build and level of realism. Keep up the great work. 👍🏽💯

Yeah the misconception that force sensing sticks don't move at all is quite misleading. The way transducers measure force, be it LVDT or strain gauge, almost always depends on the displacement caused by the force. I can recall seeing a drawing somewhere which shows the side stick with a rod inside the base whose displacement is measured by a couple of small LVDT transducers.

Did the SSC come with the frame or did you sourced it from somebody else ? Its a beauty, just unreal. What s the best source of info as far as getting info about f16 sims, trying to get my project started here in Montreal, found some panels and structures from Spain, but im a bit lost. Thanks for the help
@RainmanHST3 ай бұрын
No the SCC was sourced individually. The unfortunate reality is finding F16 parts are very rare compared to years ago. I was lucky to purchase from guys getting out of the hobby as that seems to be the only way to find parts these days. I’m not saying it’s impossible to find them but very rare. For example I just found my last panel that I have been looking for the last four years.

The F-16 stick moves 3/8" in all axes.
@RainmanHST2 жыл бұрын
I would have to disagree with that from what I see with my stick. It hardly moves at all forward. Moves a little to the rear and the sides have the most movement. I’ve never figured out a way to actually measure the movement.
@foghornmalone49712 жыл бұрын
@@RainmanHST Then you need to adjust your stops. Mil Spec was 3/8" in X and Y. Also, I asked you some more detailed questions over on ViperPits.
@RainmanHST2 жыл бұрын
@@foghornmalone4971 Interesting. I wouldn't have a clue how to adjust that. Nor would I think I want to mess with that transducer. I kind of like the way it is to be honest.

@@RainmanHST I know exactly how I would do it. I would report the jet to Ops & Mx as "Code 3 for Flight Controls" and write the jet up on a Red "X". =)

Great job on the pit, love to see the progress on facebook. Is the backlightswitch communicating with the sim? So that when you turn on the backlight in your hardware pit, it goes on in the sim too? If so, how did you managed to do that?
@RainmanHST3 жыл бұрын
That could be done easily. But it doesn’t as I don’t use the 3D pit at all. Thanks for the compliments.

the earliest prototypes of the f16 had NO stick movement, feedback from the test pilots said it was disorienting to not feel some feedback and the added the current movement limits/ Where did you find a proper sidestick? it might be due mostly to my mounting but i do have around 1/4" movement in my stick with an fssb3 base.
@RainmanHST Жыл бұрын
It wasn’t the prototype as they were operational in early A models. They are easily identified by 2 bolts on the cover plate or 3 for the later ones that move. Back when I had a FSSB I remember a slight movement as well. It mostly comes from the cougar or warthog stick being a two piece. I tried everything to get rid of that and they always seem to jiggle after a while. I would recommend the Realsimulator F16 grip as they did it correctly and made it all once piece. Expensive but you get what you pay for.

@@RainmanHST it's been a while since I read that info so I guess I forgot the detail of it, I have the stick pretty well supported the movement seems to be more from flex in the mounts themselves (virpil desk mount. I felt the movement you described almost immediately, the clicking drive me nuts so I shimmed it and got a support bracket. I was curious where you found a stick/base with the proper range of motion and force requirements?
@RainmanHST Жыл бұрын
@@deathsicon oh I see what you mean. I think I remember that as well. My stick is real. That’s how I have the real movement. ;)

@@RainmanHST how'd you pull that? I have a hockey teammate that was a mechanic on the viper, doubt he could get one for me though
