Car Gears perform in extreme pressure so EP90 Gear oil used but if you use same in scooter, it will damage seals and tear gear tooths as they are very small and need thinner oil Those who have doubts let me tell you bikes have also got gears and we use single thin engine oil that lubricates clutch, gear and piston, in scooter we have different chamber but needs only thin oil like SAE 10w30 Synthetic is better but stick ko grade ratings as per user manual. Hey brother, I have a TVS Jupiter... planning to use 10w30 motul scooter oil...Should we use the same motul engine oil as the gearbox oil? I asked my mechanic and he said no, you are supposed to use a seperate gearbox oil I think 80w90 which is used in activas... What do you suggest?

@@nischalk1336 please read vehicle user manual, it clearly says you need to use same oil in gear oil also which is 10w30MB in Jupiter, however you can change gear oil only after 10000-15000 kms intervals as it doesn't get mixed with main engine oil unlike in motorbikes so it remains clean and retain viscosity. If you can get semi synthetic oil you gonna love it.

@@Sumit-fv6mp yup I read the owners manual and it said 10w30 ... Was confused since my mechanic was suggesting me 80w90... Can I use the Motul 3000 4t plus 10w30 costing 350 bucks for 1L on Flipkart.. I wanted to buy the specific scooter motul oil but it's only 800ml, and I'll require 750+120 ml

@@nischalk1336 go with motul 3100 10w30 or castrol power1 10w30, no online semi synth oil available for scooter at this moment, both works great with bikes n scooters as well

Transmission oil is just like a car gear oil which is 80W90.

@@ramuji6041 Engine oil and gearbox oil grades are different. 10w30 engine oil is similar to 80w90 gear oil. TVS recommends 10w30 engine oil to be poured into the engine as well as the gearbox.

Can I use API GL-4 SAE 90 gear oil in Transmission of TVS Jupiter or Activa 4G? Some expert peoples are saying that engine oil should not used in transmission because it is thin and do not provide enough protection to gears/transmission. So SAE-90 Grade gear oil should use in transmission of scooters. What is your opinion?

Bhai aap Api wala bhi use kar sakte ho usme bhi koi dikkat nai hai aur tvs wala bhi use kar sakte ho kyonki wo bhi semi synthetic hota hai to uska bhi lubrication accha hota hai better hai ki apni user manual ko dekh kar jo company recommend kare Wahi use karo

Bhai maine jab apni jupiter ki 1st servicing karai to unhone bas engine oil hi badla gear oil nhi. Agar hum gear oil change nhi karate hai to kya dikkat aegi Can you explain???

Your CVT gear box can become dry and you may have to change gearbox. So better change gear oil in 10000 kms. I did change gearbox oil only 3 times in 24k kms of my dad's wego but I used motul 7100 10w50 in engine and in gearbox so it runs for 6k to 7k at least. I do servicing in front of me and change parts in my presence so this way I am always sure what has changed and what needs change. CVT is costly affair and hence pls do change oil every 10k kms at least (if you are using synthetic oil) else at 3k kms if yoy use normal engine oil into gearbox.

Same as gear oil for CVT gearbox. I prefer synthetic oil in engine and in gearbox. Clutch has more lubrication requirements and are different than engine parts e.g. griss kind of chipchip and thik oil. CVT gearboxes are modern these days and can adjust to thin oil like engine oil 10w30 etc.

3k if you use normal engine oil in gearbox else 7k to 8k if you use full synthetic oil. I use Motul 7100 10w50 in engine and gearbox from last 6 years and no issues till date. I change oil every 7k kms in engine and in gearbox (and change oil and air filter).
