TW200 Rear Rack Options. If you own a TW200 and are looking for a rear rack you have most likely seen the Tusk Utility Top Rack and the Cycleracks rear rack. Here is an in depth look at both so you can better decide for yourself which one to get.

There are a lot of rear rack options out there for the TW200! From what I have seen these two are the most common and where the most questions come from. So, here they are head to head on why we bought them. Which would you choose or what have you installed on your TW200?

In my opinion for the extra $70 you are also getting a rear crash bar. If you take into consideration the price of replacing just one rear blinker, a side plate and or a smashed exhaust pipe justifies the $70 easily. Also gives the ability for mounting saddle bags or hard side boxes. No brainer on which I'd pick.

Those are some great points! I can verify......multiple times......that it does save the back end of the bike. I have laid it down so many times that the rack has more than paid for itself. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

Great comparison! I went with the Cycleracks. While I like the protection it provides, I dislike the lack of tie down points. I too wish it didn't have the hump at the back. My next step is to mod it by tig welding small chain to the bottom of the side rails for multiple tiedown points. I also might reshape the rear. The thing that turned me away from the Tusk rack was the fact that you have to drill the rear fender.

Nice review comparing the two rear racks. I have the CycleRacks with a 2 gallon Rotopax gas can mounted to the top; fits perfectly snugged up against that rear hump. The Tusk looks much cleaner than the CycleRacks but I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I went with the tusk. For me the most important mod was the seat . Nobody on earth can say the factory seat is any good. When I bought my 21 TW I only drove it 50 miles and my tail bone was wiped out. I didn’t ride it again till my seat concepts cover and foam came in 6 weeks later , now I can ride the bike all day.

Hey Gary!! Thanks for the comment. I really like the Tusk rack and I also really like the Cycleracks. I haven't had too much of a problem with the seat though. I did make a few adjustments to the handlebars and the controls and I know that made the bike a lot more comfortable for me. I will have to look into the seat though and see what I can come up with. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

@timothyconnecticut1910

Cycle rack hands down! Wider for more gear, a grab - bar for passenger, turn signal protection , a grab point to pick up the tw if it fell over or to assist pulling it out of a stuck situation and better looks. Looks more utilitarian like the tw. The tusk looks to modern/ fashion statement. The tusk does have a lot of tie down points but those little square openings will tear your fingers off if you try using it to pick up or pull out of a stuck situation. My vote goes to cycle rack.

i like both of them... I guess it just depends on what you want to carry. I think the tusk gives you more options to hang something off the back...like a tote or a large box...you could even mount a wood platform on it to make it higher so whatever you were carrying would clear the seat so you could center it more without it just hanging more off the back..like if you wanted to mount a large box on it...you know what i mean? But I do like how wide the cyclerrack is and how it covers the rear fender.. seems good for like a duffle bag or milk crate like you said you do... and i do like how it looks also. thanks for the review.

I went with the Tusk, but as DualDorks found out, the Tusk rack still puts weight onto the rear subframe, and can potentially cause the welds to break. I guess the key is to not go too crazy on the weight while trail bashing the bike along. So far, I've had zero issues with my Tusk rack.

Great video - thank you. I installed my Tusk rack today (almost). I couldn't get one of the bolts in the right foot peg to seat properly, and wound up stripping the hex fitting off the button bolt. I have no idea why they use button bolts - I'm not a fan. I plan to go to the hardware store tomorrow and get a replacement bolt, and it WON't be a hex button bolt. Why did I go for the Tusk? The Cyclerack was too big for my needs. I don't hunt, don't need to drag our an elk (or an injured hunter...), so the Tusk should be plenty big enough for motocamping (that I hope to do some day). Rack seems well built. It probably weighs over 10 lbs (I like that is sturdy, but I don't like the idea of extra weight). The Aluminum button bolts, not so much. Thanks again (to both of you) for the video. Peace. Out.

Hey! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it. I have learned that with some of this stuff everything needs to be lightly installed before tightening everything down. I had to do that with one of my Cycleracks rack as well. Hopefully it all goes together well.

@@MOBStreet83 Again this is a great video and super helpful for people looking at racks. I really like the Cyclerack also, for all the reasons you do. It just came down to size for me. Yesterday, I got a normal bolt from the hardware store, and it installed without a problem. The original wasn't cross-threaded, it just needed some strong "convincing"- it was no problem for a normal bolt (13mm) but just too much torque for the aluminum hex button bolt to survive. I really, really like the Tusk now that is is all tightened down. Keep up the great videos - I look forward to the "packing comparison" video!
