I have a 2021 on order from my local dealer. He is a small dealer but a good guy to do business with. Looking forward to getting back in the saddle again. Oh I am 84.

TW wish list to Yamaha: make it a TW300, keep the stock gearing but add a 6th gear, better modern suspension, enlarge the tank to 2.5 gallons, bring back the kick starter, add a rear disc brake, and go with fuel injection, fit it with a real skid plate that isn't a cut open Coke can, folding mirrors, wider foot pegs. Oh, and offer it in 2 different colors changing every year. That's not too much to ask, is it? That said, the basic concept is great.

That would be a different TW for sure! I think there would be mixed emotions with all those upgrades, kinda like when Harley makes a big change in their bikes!

I just bought a new 2021 here in Canada . Over all I'm happy with the bike so far but am not too thrilled with the dealership . Took the bike for a 5 minute ride and once home and then noticed the oil level was dangerously low, not even showing in the glass . It took a few ounces to bring it to proper level , I mentioned this to the dealer and was pretty much brushed off as thought i was a complainer ,needless to say I'll be doing all of my own maintenance or going elsewhere . The one concern I have is Jetting , I live only 1400 ft above sea level and am often at sea level for rides. I have noticed the bike is very boggy on cold start up ,takes quite a while before there is any throttle response. I guess in time I'll figure it all out. have been ordering all the upgrades ,pegs ,hand guards, led light ect . Thanks for the videos Matt and have a great Christmas

Kevin did you happen to adjust the fuel mixture screw by any chance? I almost walked away from my 2015 with 600 miles due to how poorly it ran but knew worst case scenario a replacement carb is cheap (for the chinese ones). 2.5 turns out and it's more reliable than my DR650 was, and that's saying something.

@@andrewtanner8366 That's the external adjustment from the bottom ? I guess that will be the next thing , Thanks Andrew

Man, I hate hearing that dealers do t take care of the folks that are buying from them! I've worked at two dealerships and that wouldn't have flown with them! I do know that these come lean from the factory and I backed out my screw also to 2.5 turns. I hope that helps! This bike is almost like my Harley when it comes to accessories though.....can't just buy one! Thanks for watching and for chiming in, l really do appreciate it! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well and all the best!
@andrewtanner8366
@andrewtanner8366 3 жыл бұрын
@@kevinstav4757 Yes sir, it will be covered by a brass cap from the factory that will need to be removed. Just loosen the carb boots and rotate the carb in-place. At that point, use a small diameter drill to bore a hole into the brass cap and thread in a screw so you have something to pull on to pop it out. The fuel mixture screw will be below the brass cap. Access is tight, but I've done two bikes now without doing anything other than loosening the carb boots. Should be plenty of youtube videos on how to do it. My DR650 was the same configuration, so likely any video you find for a japanese dual sport will be similar. Once uncovered, tighten the fuel mixture screw in all the way and count your rotations. It's just good info to have as a reference point for how the bike runs at that mixture, not critical if you don't do this.

You just can't go wrong with Yamahas. I've owned three different Yamaha quads, 2 05' bruins we used for running around the property and an 08' Big Bear 400, those old quads are still running solid even after a life of neglect, that said I've started taking better care of my babies! Nice job on a single take vid by the way!

I live up here on the west coast sea level to 5000ft is a common weekend ride. So I'm thinking jetting could be an issue. I have had higher rides as well. As well the kick start ability would be I believe mandatory. So I like the size and weight. As you say some areas you definitely need that ability.
@MOBStreet83
@MOBStreet83 3 жыл бұрын
I think with sea level you might have to adjust jetting a bit. I have ridden from 4,000ft to 10,000ft and haven't had any fueling issues just yet. The kickstart would be nice, but I haven't had a spot yet where I couldn't bump start the bike, but there are places it is definitely better to have one.
