Great basic science ground build video. A few changes I would suggest are: 1) Get the Risa kit - you can reengineer it for max Kit performance. Science cooldowns are extremely short so no need for that. 2) Kit modules - Cold Fusion Flash over torment, and the neutronic radiation kit module from the Delta reputation. It is deadlier and has a bigger range than hyperonic radiation. I also prefer using Med tricorder and either the seismic field from Risa, or the universal kit module, resistance is futile over the anti time field and paradox bomb. 3) the sidearm for science doesn't really matter much, but I would suggest a wide beam rifle or pistol. If you can, get the Lobi antiproton projector over the lukari wrist weapon. For maximum carnage. 4) Be aware that the Tholians get healed by radiation kit modules, and the Exothermic kit does barely any damage as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it heals them too since they thrive in extreme heat. I suggest bringing in the Endothermic kit from the winter store or the seismic field from Risa instead when facing Tholians on the ground.

This was a great introduction to a ground science build for me as most of my characters are Tactical with only one Science and a couple of Engineering.
@kylelantan92202 жыл бұрын
I think the part where you were looking at the DOFF's for 20% cooldown reduction means when you use the ability, it rolls 3 times at 20% to reduce the cooldown by 10 seconds. This does not mean that it's 60% chance to win, but 3 20% chances to win each time you cast.
@kylelantan92202 жыл бұрын
Also, in the pheonix store is a Crystal Radiation Projector, which to me has a nice cone attack, that also benefits from the Tzenkethi shields +25% radiation damage. Which I would guess might work on your modules. Might be worth looking into, though you'd have to give up the nakuhl shield.

Science is far and away the strongest "basic" ground class. The large amount of base level available AOE for mobs and debuffs for bosses means you can have a very strong ground character without needing to touch fleet or reputation gear, let alone lock boxes or event items. On top of this they have the most powerful basic ground healing and debuff removal. Science toons never have to draw their weapons. Science is also strong in space but much more complicated. Tactical is the weakest on ground which is consistent in STO with how little it makes sense.
@AugmentedDictatorGames3 жыл бұрын
Tactical and engineering are actually strong on the ground. Before the last record wipe, the whole board was engineering and tactical characters.
@Doublebarreledsimian3 жыл бұрын
Actually Tactical is now the most powerful on the ground since last year. I can one shot bosses with my tactical if all my kit mods are ready. They've become a pain in the ass in Dino land since a lot of people who have figured it out, have been one shot killing the T'rexes. Science is still the best basic ground class and are a good second. Engineers are the weakest except against Iconians. Sabotage makes them Gods in Brotherhood of the sword elites.

As far as replacement traits, I would recommend "Tenavik's Counsel" when you use a AP weapon, or apply any DoT effect it will also apply a 49.3/sec AP DOT to the Target for 10 seconds
@nolgroth3 жыл бұрын
Exothermic Induction does indeed have an initial burst of damage, followed by an AoE DOT burn. It is a very powerful ability, though the targets will often run out of the AoE burn. Beware! Hyperonic Radiation is nice but it will heal Tholians. Choose a different kit mod for Nukara. Entropy is sort of a marker or condition that some Temporal abilities apply to a target. In and of itself, Entropy doesn't do much. Other Temporal abilities, however, will transform the Entropy stacks into bonus effects or damage. When that happens, the existing Entropy is lost and Entropy-building abilities need to be used to add more. Now on to the rest of the video. Edit: Strategist is Space only. Literally any other Specialization would be better on Ground. Commando or Miracle Worker would buff survival. Command is good for team play. Intelligence is good for ambush style play. Also, upon further consideration, I would recommend Cold Fusion Flash over Hyperonic Radiation. It is somewhat pricey on the Exchange but it is a nice kit module. Some of the Risian kit modules are also really nice. One additional thing is your Away Team abilities. A good Away Team can literally make all the difference. Good video. I learned something from you that I am going to use (Temporal kit module).

another thing you may want to look into is disco rep armor/EV suit, that one is generelly better AND cheaper then the lobi armor he showed, while the stats on disco rep armor cant be seein instantly it has +10% crtH and 40% crtD and 10% run, run makes sure you arrive fast enough before enemys die from ur teammates, and the crit chance and crit dmg outperform the kperf. ps exothermic also heals tholians...so endothermic which does same stuff but ice from winter shop is usually preferred. but yeah with risan kit and disco armor you would loose 100 kit readiness, wich would increase the cooldowns from 11-13 sec to 13-16 sec...

Just a note, the Lukari Piezo-Electric Wrist Apparatus has two modes to fire. The second mode with heal you as you damage that your opponent and adds to your survival. For a non-engineering character, this mode can also be useful for the ground heal Endeavor.

Also I would argue that the Lukari shield is probably better than the Na'kuhl shield if you have the Lukari wrist device as main weapon. One flaw to his logic about why to use the Na'kuhl 2-piece... is that AFAIK it only applies to weapon attacks. If you're running around fireballing everyone to death with kit modules it doesn't matter one iota. Also while the Lukari shield doesn't make you temporarily immune, it does have an exceptionally high regen rate. Of course the Lukari 2-piece doesn't help most kit module damage either.... only the ones that do electrical damage. Such as the Lukari rep item Peizo-electric lattice.(one of my favorite science kit powers actually) It also increases the damage of WEAPONS that do electric damage though: like the wrist apparatus. Which he's using... in this video. :p

another good personal traits are from 15 kit r&d you get the +100 kperf for 8 sec after activating a kit module, great one imho also dulce et decorum est, +10% all dmg. after death it resets to +resistence...which is easy, dont die with nakuhl shield its very hard anyway. vicious gives stacking dmg and crtD dualist gives +5% dmg per killed enemy for 15 sec up to 3 times..... doffs, there is a Explosives_Expert doff that improves on exothermic induction field, good that you can buy a 6th doff slot XD this one is good for anybody : Assault_Squad_Officer 10% chance for 10% crtD for 15 sec, up to 3 stacks, so 30% crtD if you use your wep.

I'd like to see what the various "free" ground tailor visuals are for characters. I play on console...I'm not sure if it's different one the PC - but at least on the console you have no idea what the visuals look like before purchasing a Rep item. I've seen other videos out there on the free ship visuals, but I haven't found anything showing the ground ones. I wish we could see the item before using rep/elite marks - especially if you're just getting it for the visual.

And then I run BO Lego Scimitar or Lego D'D in space, with my skill tree Tac Ult (much like Auggies, but I shift 4 points of his science into engineering...same tree I've had for 4 years now), so oxymoron. 21:18, [Regen] is out of combat only... and thus WORTHLESS, since the base regen rate is too high for it to matter. Now, the skill for improving armor? THAT is good! Aside from Kit relative ground skills, I usually just get the tier one skills, as the tier two skills are weak. So, like you, the tier 2 kit skills, and whichever tier 1 skills work for that character. which there's 7 options and 6 skill points, soo... in practice it's mostly a choice of shield resistance or weapon crits.
@marhawkman3033 жыл бұрын
This is not the same as the passive regen buffs you see on Armor. The Jem'hadar armor actually gives you such high passive regen you can shrug off pretty much all chip damage. I use in in QWW for the snowball fights since it makes me nearly unkillable there.

Field Researcher: this seemingly counts the effect of the Biochemist doff. Yes, really. Proper space magic builds can stack truly obscene damage resistance penalties.
@marhawkman3033 жыл бұрын
Speaking of Doffs... I don't like Neal OR Geologists. Why? Well... Neal's Damage bonus only works on Borg(including space for reasons). I don't like things that only work on certain enemies. Sure.. it's a common enemy, but even so. The Elder Malik'itan doff you get as a Gamma Recruit reward does something similar... but works on ALL enemies. Geologists? Well... it's 20% chance. Sure, stack 3 and it triggers more often than not... but the base CD isn't that high to begin with. Also, it only works with the BASIC Exothermic, and Hyperonic. NOT altered versions like Endothermic or Neutronic. I don't know why, it just doesn't. Most doffs work with variant powers... but not this one. Note: this doff reduces the current CD of BOTH modules when it triggers, so... 20% chance *3 *2... IE each attack cycle you could roll 6 times for the effect. But given that the CD is already a few seconds? Enh... only if you wanna be able to stand around and use JUST those two abilities. And that's 3 empty slots... One option is to use Nurses/Medics. This seems weird for good reason. It has nothing to do with improving DPS, but it's a doff that you can proc simply by using the Pahvan healing crystal. Or that teleporting Saurian doff from the new lockbox. He's good because he's triggered by activating kit modules. All it does is summon an NPC, but it's an NPC who attacks with space magic. However, as a science captain, you also can use Biologists to enhance your class power Tricorder scan. This merely increases duration and doesn't make it more powerful. But since it's a class power it is an ability you always have. Yeah... non-weapon based builds get weird with Doffs. A lot of doffs are specific to certain kit powers, and just don't work in most builds :/
@marhawkman3033 жыл бұрын
Oh, and if you really wanna use Exothermic, there's a doff to make it more powerful. IE it starts spewing fireballs from the fire patch. It's a Risian Geologist though... and the purple version requires you to earn Master Relaxer. Have fun with that. :p

Is there anything besides the cooldown reduction that makes Exothermic induction Field superior to Endothermic Induction Field?
@brianriley51083 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. Exothermic was the first one to come out and had more support for a longer time (more Doffs). Endothermic was a secondary thought when they started adding modules in the Events (winter, in this case). Edit: The main difference is the enemy being fought. For example, Tholian's don't respond to Fire dmg. So endothermic has relatively no effect on them. Cold dmg, however, does decimate them. Use Endothermic or other cold dmg to kill them faster. Personally, I like Cold Fusion Flash (exchange) better than Endothermic. It does less dmg, but has a larger AoE.
