Best thing I ever did with tweets was cut a hole and mount them in the kicks. Off axis of course but they were bright anyway and it toned them down. Best imaging I've ever had.

Im a coaxial guy. No need for complicated tweeter placement. Some of the new coaxial speakers has two terminals. One for your midbass and one for your tweeter. That allows you to use a passive crossover. The quality of coaxial speakers are improving.

Yep. Plus Audison has mids with tweets built in-phase (Prima APX), +built-in crossover.

When you face subs across from each other if assuming I am correct they will cancel each other out in sound frequencies. If they are too far apart they can do the same. What orientation do you have your subs facing and what kind of car do you have?

You should buy the connectors with solder inside and the outside is heat shrink tube stuff. Its very good for a fast solder connection 👌

Won't yours and the passenger's legs obstruct the tweeters? High frequencies are easily absorbed and hindered, as we know.

stock tweeter location in the Chevy express van is aimed at your knee. I moved them up the the a-pillar. I noticed a better sound stage, but I can't adjust the time delay as the mids are in the doors by the floor. too far apart to leave untuned.

My take on tweeter placement is place it within 12 inches of the mids and tune for that. In the sails is to close and by the a pillars is way too far from the mids unless the mids are in the a pillars also. Just my experience

Doug if you see this can you tell me/us what crossover points you used and the slopes? Also if you could comment more on how you like the CT sounds speakers, they look real nice and are a good price I was thinking of maybe trying them as an OEM upgrade in my work van.

Was wondering - High frequency does not travel well - It can be blocked, deflected, absorbed - So - When you put them low like that a leg or other obstruction, could really mess things up?

Of course the tweeter should be close to the mid. Look at home audio speakers. you don't see the tweeters 2-3ft from the mid on those things.

Home audio speakers are on axis, cars are not. The point to separating tweeters in cars is getting them into a proper sound stage.

can you guys please help me with my midbass or lack it's of? car is a 1999 Monte Carlo, I've deadned the doors and still have little to no mid bass. I got a set of 5.25's components in the factory location on a Rockford 300x4 amp and a set of 6.5 components up higher on the door. I've faded between the two speakers to check for cancellation and polarity isuuses but it actually picks up a little mid bass when they're both playing. please help.

High frequencies are more subjective to blocking, but also more reflective- hence why you only here your neighbors bass and not the highs the wall isn't absorbing it, it's just bouncing around. The DSP will take car of the rest. You know your sound theories- well done! Do you have high pass ability on the midbass? 3500?

A singer's voice will always be split between the mid and tweeter (harmonics). And since he's using a DSP in this application, the speaker distance is irrelevant. Being off-axis on the mid only works if you're crossing it over at the right frequency.

Doug, I didn't see any explosions, actually I did see once at an older video, maybe I got blind by it. hehhehehehhehrhr. I liked your speakers location, I wouldn't put the tweeter too low, but this could be the reason im not the expecialist. Some guy's make extreme directional speakers with mids over the dash and delaying tweeters to reach the driver at the same time, it could sound great but look like crap. I would hate to look at the dash and see a lot of speakers fronting me. heheheh
