The band Frogleap was able to be formed and play live because of the variax guitars. Since some songs are in different tunings from chorus to verse to bridge. It started with Leo Morachiolli, think I butchered the spelling, making metal covers of various songs.

Speaking of Metal related video games there is kinda weird game series name 'Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame' (2 game in the series) that use singer from European metal scene as voice actors (as the name of the game implies all dialogues are singing part), just in the first game you have singers like Simone Simons and Mark Jansen from Epica, Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth, Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Elize Ryd (Amaranthe), Marc Hudson (DragonForce) and many others as part of the cast. (The games are on Steam if you want to check them out)

100% agree on the modern FNM/Bungle. Not to take anything away from their uniqueness, just an awesome little similarity. First time i heard these lads in the car I was mindblown questioning myself if Patton had gone on another venture. There are musical elements that pay homage to 'Quote Unquote (Travolta)' by Mr Bungle as well as the lounge/jazz styles that happen throughout both Bungle and Ninja's back catalogue. Trippy, genius, disturbing talent. My new favourite Aussie band. I think my band played with them in the early days.

It's cool to hear a bit about the gear, even if I don't follow everything you know about it, me just being an amateur drummer ^^ I think the programmable guitar gear you mentioned might partially be necessary because as you mentioned they don't have their bass player anymore and I think they might be compensating for that by programming settings that allow for him to play parts that are supposed to have more of the weight a bass adds.

Hey Tank. Ever think about doing the song Dance by Myrath (Meer-ath)? They are a Tunisian band with a cool Middle Eastern flair along with metal. The video shows their gear and the keyboard is EPIC. The song is about a Syrian belly dancer who was kidnapped by ISIS after refusing to stop dancing. More broadly, it is about a call to young Muslims to reject sharia and “dance” with modernity.
