Jan 12 - A prototype robot that could help provide care for the elderly has been demonstrated in Japan.
Called 'Twendy-one', the robot was developed by Waseda University in Tokyo.
The robot can help people in need of assistance by, for example, helping them to get out of bed.
The robot's advanced manual dexterity means it can also handle kitchen utensils.
In a country where 40 percent of the population is expected to be 65 or over in just a few decades, robots are expected to take on the job of caring for the elderly.
Twendy One took seven years to create, has 241 pressure sensors on each robotic hand and is expected to ready commercially by 2015, for $200,000.

Love the part where it uses a METAL instrument to get the toast out of the toaster. That seems perfectly safe... For the money it costs to build and buy one of these, you could easily pay someone to help the elderly, with less chance of death of terror.

I prefer to live with a robot at my home than in the retirment home. Children or medical assistant can't be always here. When we are old, this kind of robot will be a lot more perfectionate and usefull for old people as we'll be. It will be expensive but I'd love to benefit of one of them to make old age less difficult. You need this this robot yet, 'cause you are old yet in your minds :p

The only religion that uses God's name Jehovah and tells of a resurrection of loved ones in an incoming new world order where sadness is finally gone. Thank you
