It's insane how dedicated they are to the lore, that literally everything they do is thoughtfully planned out, at the same time looking completely normal to the outside world. Like in Chlorine they went out of their way to get a right-hand drive truck just to keep the same positions. Even in 21P on the farm in almost every shot of the two of them Josh was on the left??

I'm not sure why they started doing it, but the reason they've switched for this album era is for the lore that they aren't in control of themselves. It's also why this is the first time in like 8 years that Josh didn't dye his hair to match the album, and it's the first time Tyler has ever dyed his hair for it. It's like whoever is on the left must have dyed hair.

The fact that this fits in to the whole twenty one pilots universe as well is sort of insane and shows how dedicated they are to pulling off the narrative they created. Notice how Tyler acts like a robot who is there just to promote the new album, while Josh is free to thank the audience for their support. Crazy good stuff haha!

@@iamnotme2833 So basically Tyler and Josh created this storyline over the years that continued off with Scaled and Icy. Basically there's this evil city called Dema that captures people that have mental health illnesses and puts them into the city, forcing them to follow this religion, Vialism. There's also this rebel group that's called the banditos, and they basically are the "good guys". Josh is the leader of the Banditos. They help people escape Dema and go to Trench, which is the Bandito camp, and also the name of the previous album. Before Scaled and Icy came out, twenty one pilots released a few posters, showing a bunch of weird things. Although this comment would get to long if I went over all the details (people on KZbin have definatly covered this), I can give you the basic idea. Tyler and Josh were kidnapped by Dema and are being mind-controlled. Josh has super powers and doesn't REALLY know Tyler, and Tyler is trapped inside his own mind, unable to escape. They basically do propaganda for the album, which is actually propaganda for Dema, Good Day Dema, and Dema Productions. Since they are being mind controlled, they switched spots. Josh is doing the talking, Tyler is promoting the album and has dyed hair, and they ignored their wives. I know this is all very confusing, but I hope I helped you (and others) understand the lore a little bit better. I tried not to make it too long, I'm sorry about length.

It's the way tyler holds and toys with the trophy, the way he's swaying and keeps looking down to the floor and the trophy (basically anywhere except the audience). He seems to distracted and fidgety, and that's how he is selling the act of the reversed rolls so well. The same goes for josh, and how he is confidently looking at the audience, stays steady and grounded, knows when to look at the trophy and speaks freely. Tyler dancing up to the stage, though? That's just how he usually acts. If I weren't already familiar with twenty one pilots and the band's history, I totally would've believed that's how it usually goes.

You know, Tyler promoted their album at the recent live performance of ‘Shy Away’ they did too. I feel like it’s very purposeful, because idk if they’ve ever explicitly said ‘Please buy our new album’ at any other time. They know it’s usually a lame thing to say (and that their music and concerts speaks for itself), which is why they never have before. AND the fact that it’s the only thing that Tyler said makes me believe they’re really committing to the DEMA narrative for us hardcore fans.
