I feel like this song follows the overall theme of the entire album (and spoilers, its not all sunshine and rainbows like everyone thinks). The album is about finally being able to take the step away from a dark place (or DEMA), elated at first (Good day) then being cautious and a bit doubtful (choker) but starting to realize that they made it out (the outisde) and enjoying their life of freedom BUT with the ever so slightest of hints of doubt and fear that all of this is impermanent. (Best example: Saturday. There is a reason for why he wants the days to slow down and why the video 'glitches' near the end. Because tomorrow is Sunday... Tyler's "Suicide day") Tyler presses on, staying adamant and coping with these fears with songs like Never Take it and Mulberry Street. And now this song, Bounce Man, (this is my interpretation, feel free to see it differently) is the bishops from Dema calling him back, telling him to bounce out and come back to the house, the house Shy Away told him not to come back to. This is after he had done something (something bad/wrong maybe) and they're telling him to come back after being outside for so long saying it will just be an "in and out" sort of thing, but we know that's a lie knowing the next songs from the album... But thats just a theory, A song theory!
@beats_city09113 жыл бұрын
For me it feels like it's a message from Tyler to Nico. "Come to the house man" - he does not fear to finally defeat him "You'll be in and out out out" - Tyler is smoking him out of basement, out of the house because his house should be place for family, not fears "I don't know if you got your phone cause this went straight to voicemail" - remember phone booth from Shy Away? - Nico does't want to listen to him "And my wife saw your face on the nightly news" - fears and anxiety usually come at night time - Jenna probably tries to cope with Blurry as well "Nightly news" - news on TV, but we don't believe what's on TV "We'll sing one more song" - the last meeting with Nico, then Tyler is free "Then you head to Mexico" - south direction from Ohio, but gotta check what this direction in Dema lore means "Got soldiers on my pedigree" - got banditos with me these are my first thoughts, but it really can be about everything, depending on interpretation and this is the beauty on imagination!
@codycantfocus3 жыл бұрын
I think this song is a synonym of Shy Away. Being absent while you follow your ambitions isnt wrong, and no matter where you go, your friends just have to trust you're fine.
@MysticalRainbowKaci3 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm....I took it as encouraging escape from DEMA (or in other words, find shelter in a friend when you are feeling depressed or lost, to just reach out no matter how hard it feels, that there is love waiting for you to open up to it). Saying to a friend, I have your back man, it doesn't matter what you are afraid of or feeling guilty about, this love is unconditional and the door is open...Similar to My Blood and Smithereens. 💖

this album came out during early summer and my long time best friend and i would rock out to it while driving around our hometown in his truck. we deemed the period "Scaled and Icy Summer" as an inside joke, i remember singing along to this song with him while tearing through the streets. He moved not too long afterwards, still closely in touch, but this song just has a different feel now

I loved since first listen, when I first heard it had been a while since I caught up to twenty one pilots and it was so different I felt so excited and pleasantly surprised bc I absolutely love when artists can be so versatile and deliver different types of music while still keeping their signature. And tøp did this very well, as someone who also enjoys fun songs I appreciate it a lot bc not only it's quality pop and better than a lot of stuff put out there, it is also very intentional correlating to their brand very well and in that sense I think Scaled and Icy is brilliant. I was sad to find out a lot of ppl on their fanbase felt disappointed with this record bc I thought it was really refreshing and made sense at the time too, but anyways I just hope this band never loses the spark to experiment new things and explore with their sound cuz they are definitely one of my favorite creators out there.
