Oh man, that small commentary on saying that he wasn't born with it and that he had to work to be where he was even if he had talent, I appreciated it so much. Many times I work on so much shit on my own and then I have people telling me that I'm just talented and I was born with the ability or that I got talent where I don't, which just frustrates me. Not sure if I'm the only one dealing with situations like this, but yeah that just touched me much good to hear someone actually say something like that when I hear so many people dismiss worked skills as in-born talents.
@Jaykayorso4 жыл бұрын
You're not. Im a tattoo artist. Working extremely hard to figure stuff out, giving my best and studying styles and art every single day. And I have tons of clients who are like "damn you have natural talent, I could never do that". And it's kinda frustrating, as it dismisses all the hard work and dedication Ive put into learning everything I do, to the point where it comes more naturally. It's also such a self-defeating comment in my opinion. Regular people using it to excuse not working hard enough cause they could never be as good as someone else.. when in reality everyone's just a human, who has worked for all they can do and have. Which is something everyone else can do as well.

In case you’re not super familiar with Tyler Joseph: he comes from a basketball obsessed family. Both parents instilled a strong work ethic very early on, as Tyler and his younger siblings were required to make 500 baskets everyday, from at least the free throw line, before dinner. If they didn’t want to practice, his mom would remind him that someone else IS going to put in the work, and when you play against them, they’re gonna crush you. Tyler is extremely competitive and knows what hard work and laser focus can do. Didn’t pick up an instrument until he was 16 and did not come from a “musical” family. Self taught, he has passion for music and for how cathartic and therapeutic it can be for both writer and listener. Had a full ride b’ball scholarship to college, but dropped it, to do what he felt convicted to do. So yeah, natural aptitude is great, but it’s the work, the work, the work. Sorry I rambled on so long.

During the third chorus it’s not only an effect on the mic He’s using the part he sang for the first chorus as background vocals to kinda harmonize with himself
@neiltinley48584 жыл бұрын
Yes, this! I was scanning the comments cos I knew someone would’ve said it. I love how Tyler chose to lay the harmony down first, so you think “that’s different”, but the real pay-off is coming out of the rap when he loops it back in and suddenly it all makes sense.

I'm glad you mentioned Linkin Park. I've always got Linkin Park vibes from Twenty One Pilots. And that is why I'm a 30 year old fan and go to concerts surrounded by 12 year olds. Linkin Park was my teenybopper band in middle school and Twenty One Pilots gave me the same feeling listening to their music. Not that they *sound* the same, but its just a vibe. And the blending of different genres so effortlessly. They are def. cut from the same cloth.

I liked what you said about putting in the work. I always tell people that think they're not talented enough that talent means NOTHING if you don't work at it. You could be the most innately talented singer in the world but if you don't work on your technique you'll never improve, never be dynamic, and if you have any sort of career it'll be cut short by not treating your voice properly. If you love music and want to make some, don't think that just because you don't sound like Tyler Joseph you can't be good, because I guarantee you he didn't start out sounding like this either.

First off: Cannabis Indica, Northern Lights, waddup Creed reference. I loved that. Secondly, you get what he does, what I mean is you don't just like the song because of the beat or the rap, you take it all in. You get the beat effects he does, the kinds of voices he sings, all of the effort he puts out there to perform. No KZbinr I know of does that, breaking down every single part of a song, to try to get it all and to appreciate it. Love your videos for that. I'm here for it.
