Thank you for doing this one! I knew that you'd love it! You got the interpretation right, the car is life and Tyler isn't driving it, Blurryface is. (that's how i see it anyway). The car will appear again and it was on tour last year. We didn't know at the time that this video was leading somewhere, but when the new album came out and Jumpsuit was released all made sense. Very exciting for the fans. Can't wait for more reactions for Twenty One Pilots later on. Go bump this in the car, just be careful of that fire. :D

I've been a fan of twenty one pilots for 7 years and I've never been able to analyze their music as easily and quickly as you can. It's crazy that you can listen to a song once and be able to understand the story and symbolism as well as you do, not many people can do that and i applaud you for that. That's the number 1 reason why I subbed in the first place because instead of just sitting there bobbing your head like other reaction channels do, you actually go in depth to explain the lyrics which isn't the easiest to do when it comes to artist like tøp and nf. Keep it up 👍👍

You definitely shouldnt have asked me to give you a recap of the story Bc I will go all out 💀 Okay so I’m glad you did hds first bc It is the prequel to the trench trilogy. In this video keons (one of the 9 bishops) is driving Tyler to dema (city) while repeatedly trying to kill josh who is trying to stop him. The car swerves a lot bc the bishops can’t see yellow (lines on road) as the song progresses the car which is inhabiting Tyler and taking him to dema starts to fall apart and eventually the bishop is gone and Tyler is with Josh. Now some people believe the car also represents the whole blurryface album and it blows up at the end to symbolize the end of the era and beginning of trench (hence why it’s the prequel). At the end of the video the car is back together and they ride starts over to symbolize the never ending battle with dema and how many times he has to keep trying to escape. You will notice that throughout the story the never ending battle is a common theme. Also your interpretation was really well and you said some things I never thought about. This is just a recap of this song but I can talk about the others if you do them The order is • heavydirtysoul • jumpsuit • nico and the niners • levitate Heathens also goes with the story but no one really Knows where and it’s harder to interpret with the story bc of the suicidal squad stuff it’s also in my opinion not as important to the story as the others.

I told him to be sure he did HDS first way back when I requested Lane Boy. I didn't want him seeing the trench videos yet. So glad he is loving them. Love your recap of the video too!!! I also love that you mention Heathens. It's the first time we see yellow and I really love it.
@jaydw25835 жыл бұрын
Kelly30stm yea honestly the heathens mv was a masterpiece. Take away the suicida squad stuff and Tyler really was giving us a heads up of what was to come. Thanks for making sure he did this one first it would be such a shame if the story was messed up for him bc he did it in the wrong order.

@@Kelly30stm I think it also connects to Nico and The Niners. "We'll win but not everyone will get out" might be a reference to that revolution in the heathens mv

I kinda think it's cool that the car brakes down more when its starts to become night, because that's when most people struggle the most mentally. It can also be interpreted that the small hurdles we struggle through during the day (the wheels starting to fall of) builds up the struggles we go through during the nigh (the car burning down)
@carigcakiestbitch71805 жыл бұрын
Your theory holds serious water, if you listen to the lyrics of songs like Ode to Sleep, even Tyler himself talks about night being the worst time for him. "Why am I not scared in the morning? I don't hear those voices calling" and "the dark's not taking prisoners tonight"
@user-mc4nx6ky3o5 жыл бұрын
@@carigcakiestbitch7180 Yep, and from Levitate - "Cowards only come through when the hour's late and everyone's asleep, mind you."
@garrett.c.j5 жыл бұрын
*Hopefully this isn't confusing. And if I got anything wrong, I do apologize.* The ongoing theory is that, the Heavydirtysoul music video is one of Tyler's many attempts to escape DEMA. As you see in the ending of Jumpsuit he takes out his jacket from the trunk of the HDS car, and makes his way to where the jumpsuit mv is set (This is most likely explaining how he ended up at the ravine). But, before that, you see he's holding a sunflower and asleep, or under Blurryface's spell/trance, and is taken back to DEMA. Continuing, you see in the Nico and the Niners video, he's holding one of the (if not the one in the jumpsuit video) sunflowers, and in the drawer they're many more. Symbolizing the many escapes he's attempted. Eventually him and Josh meet up, do the handshake, Tyler gets a new jacket, and the Banditos put the tape on it (the tape is yellow, which the Bishops can't see. So it's basically camouflage). This leads to the Levitate video. Where he gets his head shaved, and at the end of that video he's, again, taken by Blurryface. Taken back to DEMA. To put the music videos in chronological order. It would be: Heavydirtysoul, Jumpsuit, Nico and the Niners, then Levitate.

Love how you interpreted this song. Never thought it like how he doesn’t put his problems on josh with the car missing him
@celeste17375 жыл бұрын
Glad your getting deeper into the Blurryface era, it’s an excellent body of work... also, your breakdown was spot on and your interpretation of the song is your own, unique to you and whatever you make of it. Going into DEMA lore will take you down into a rabbit hole where EAST IS UP lol. Briefly, Dema means Tower of Silence (Car Radio “now I just sit in silence”), the nine Bishops (the Niners) are led by Nico aka Blurryface, and are represented as the nine circles on the Blurryface album and each name are lyrics inside 9 songs off the album, hints of the Bishops are in several BF and Vessel songs. Clancy (Tyler) has figured out that his city, Dema, is basically a prison and the Banditos are trying to help him and others escape (insecurities) they wear yellow because the Bishops see it as grey, but it’s also a sign of freedom and hope for those that can see. We first see the hints of yellow for the new era (and Tyler escaping Blurryface) in this video and Heathens. Sorry so long, bye! ||-//

The entire story behind the Blurryface and Trench album is kind of complex since they included a bunch of backstory in the form of secrets on their websites and "leaked documents" about Dema which is related to the story told in this video. It would be a very lengthy comment to type it all out, so I would just like to recommend a video explanation for the story. One is from Nalbis called "How Dema Explains Everything" or a video by Polyphonic called "How Twenty-One Pilots Tell a Story." Both go into a lot of detail about the extended universe and what all the symbolism means, but the Polyphonic one also goes into all three videos while the Nalbis video was made when they first dropped "Jumpsuit" so it contains less information about the storyline. You can just decide how in-depth you want to go with this before watching.

The story of the red hat, at least I see it as, his anxiety, depression, insecurities, etc. Most of it can be found in Stressed Out. When they are preforming in the Living Room/Bedroom, Tyler intally has the hat on, and he's reserved and nervous. But both times he tears the hat off and starts being himself, he starts performing. His issues don't hold him while he performing. Also, someone tells about the story of this song, so I won't get into that, but I do know that the car reappears during the Trench album Concert. I saw it live. The car rises from below the stage - on fire - and Tyler stands on it and just generally uses it as a prop as he sings Jumpsuit, which is the song the car reappears in via the Music Video. Also, it should be noted that the Trench Concert, at least the showing I was at, starts off with Josh walking on stage with a lit torch. I think fire is a fairly important message in the whole story too. Maybe it symbolizes hope, the light at the end of the tunnel, since the Car, which symbolizes the loop and continuous journey to Dema, was lit on fire and then blown up.

As usual, your reactions are fire and your interpretation spot on! The one thing I would add which you didn’t mention which I feel is an unspoken message of this video is that the end when his life is falling apart Tyler jumps out of the car and hangs with Josh - reinforcing the reoccurring theme in their music that friends are another key to overcome difficulties and the inner turmoil in our lives. (For more on that theme-Have you done Guns for Hands yet?)

Back again to let you know that you need to listen to Jon Bellion. Man is a musical genius, I think you would really enjoy his music and his Making Of videos are even better

Dope commentary 🔥🔥 loved it! Also if you want to follow the "story" the order is heavydirtysoul, Jumpsuit, Nico and the Niners and Levitate. (Pls correct me if I'm wrong) if not I recommend you to watch those anyway, pure gold!

Interesting the resemblence between this and ode to sleep. The car burning at the end "i will set my soul on fire". interesting.

You killed it with that last interpretation! New tour he opens standing on a burnt out car. Jumpsuit video has him dancing on top of that car. I think its in the Levitate video. And Nico and the Niners would round out the 4 related videos
