Tyler playing the accordion, the “creaking” sounding eerily like a body hung from a noose swinging on a tree…It is a cry to God to save him from himself.

Even though the first version of Goner was very different, I think it helps you appreciate the build up and intensity of the live version (which is the version that is on the Blurryface album). What you will find is that going through twenty one pilots music is a journey. There are many recurring themes and elements that build upon things from previous albums / eras. Many deal with Tyler’s struggles with depression, anxiety, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. Blurryface represents much of the darkness inside of him that he tries to fight against: “I’ve got two faces, Blurry’s the one I’m not.” The duality inside of him is a theme throughout the album. Sometimes he feels as though he’s already lost the battle (I’m a goner) but he uses the music to continue to fight and to call out for help. He’s calling out to God: “I want to be known by you” … although he always leaves the lyrics open to different interpretations. “Though I weak And beaten down I’ll slip away Into the sound The ghost of you Is close to me I’m inside out You’re underneath Don’t let me be gone” Tyler has said that the music is therapy but the concerts are a celebration. The intensity of Josh’s drums during this song is so powerful. And it’s as if it gives Tyler the strength and courage to scream out even more intensely - figuratively and literally. It’s a very different feeling than the first video when it was just Tyler outside in the cold by himself reflecting back on painful memories.

Tyler said this was the song that took the longest to write on the Blurryface album. The shorter version, which they released the first video for in 2012, didn't have the lyrics about Blurryface, so it lived in tyler's head for a while before being officially released in 2015. I love the way the song changes throughout from sounding like he's almost given up to actively fighting against blurryface and how you can hear the desperation in his voice as he screams the words at the end, asking for someone to help him.

All their concerts are amazing. The one at Fox Theater was professionally recorded and the audience was so involved!

Fox theater was great. I saw them last year at a small venue in Atlanta at center stage, approximately 1k people. Then I saw them in Charlotte this year ( around 15k people) I find it funny when I watch both that the crowd sounds much better at the smaller show. I thought it would be the opposite

@@SherryBandito I tried very hard in my old person way to get tickets to one of the smaller shows in Denver, but was content to be way back in the stands at Ball Arena. Despite the great effort to keep everyone involved in the show, I felt like the energy of the crowd really waned back there. Even when Tyler miraculously created Redecorate right in front of us on the B stage, his genius seemed a bit wasted on the people around me. Maybe they hadn’t kept up since the Blurryface era, but it was disappointing to me. This is by far my favorite band ever! I was born in the wrong generation!

@@ideasmatter4737 I understand this. I was just lucky on my tickets. I’m glad I got to see the sai band this year with them. They weren’t in the small shows. I get the age thing too, older body younger mind here lol ah I bet redecorate was beautiful too. They are my favorite band and I hope to see them again. My only regret was not seeing linkin park, I loved Chester Bennington, it took losing him and my love for twenty one pilots to get me to drive 10 hours one way to see them. Lol it was worth it

@@SherryBandito I wasn’t tuned into Lincoln Park, but I understand the link. My tastes run eclectic, but I can’t stand cookie cutter songs. I guess I like singer/songwriters that explore ideas and sounds! I want a concert that takes me on an adventure! I love acoustic music, but I’m thrilled with great synth sounds! It fulfills what I imagined could happen when I first learned about synthesizers in 4th grade Music class. Yay for Tyler putting it all together!

He started this song before blurryface ( original version ) then he completed the song which is on the blurryface album ( second version you listened to) this song is the longest he ever worked on a song.

The live version sounds exactly like the original version. The one from the first video isn't the one on the Blurryface album.

The instrument you are trying to think of is an accordion. You’re probably going “duh, I knew that”😉. No worries, it happens to the best of us 😁. The live version of this song is the album version. EVERY concert that Twenty Øne Piløts performs is a “special treat”. They are soooo amazing live. Enjoyed your reaction (but I always enjoy spending time w/you). Take care. See ya in the next one. ✌🏻💕😊

I get the confusion but the first song you listend to was a really old version of the song goner. There is actually a whole song such as the one the play at Fox theather and it is the climatic end of the Blurryface album. So unfortunately they did not get a special treatment

I think he wants to be known by god - a lot of his early music was quite explicitly religious (now the religious symbolism is more of an undertone, and he goes on a journey with faith, questioning it and even imagining a world without it (where he has to figure stuff out on his own))

Jesus! "guys!" you kinda missed on this one. even though it is open for interpretation, he does look up to the sky "God, Higher self, etc..." bones crackling in the official video... he's screaming for help from God... is he there? A whole bunch questions. I get the chills every time the screaming starts and you paused it right smack in the middle!!!!! booooo 🤯 ::taking a deep breath:: its ok... I will let this one slide... 👻☠

There is no reason to be rude and curse at Papa Pryce. Do you know if he is even religious? I'm sure there was no disrespect intended. Maybe what you see really isn't as obvious as you think. I can only speak for myself, but I don't think prayer when I see someone look up. I connect on a different level. I respect that Tyler leaves the lyrics open for interpretation. You know this, and yet you curse.
@alishaharper58602 жыл бұрын
@@girlwithnoname956 I am sorry. I wasn’t meaning to be rude. Sorry if I came off that way. When I said “Jesus!” I meant that’s what the song related to. God, Jesus, higher power etc. I don’t see how that came off rude. And I always refer to papa pryce as “Guys!” because I love his energy and how he always says “guys.” I even get floored how he can pick up the meanings of their songs so fast and this was the first time he seemed lost…and I mean no disrespect. My sincere apologies if I have offended anyone. ✌️🙂
