(Grape flavored stuff is the shit. Love me some grape flavor. Outshine Grape Popsicles are absolutely amazing. It's straight up like eating frozen grape juice.) This song is about a time when Tyler (the singer) was in college and had a panic attack. During the attack, he ran out into the road, nearly getting hit. He was so deep in the attack, that he wanted the car to hit him. To end is life. But the person who yelled at him to get out of the road, realized something was wrong, and helped him. This is a hallmark of Twenty One Pilots. Depp, depressing lyrics mixed with hope and love. Basically this song is saying, no matter how bad things are, every day is a new semester to try again. To find your reason to live. Which is an overarching message of theirs. To stay alive. To fight against depression and other mental illnesses. To not give in to them. They deal *A LOT* in topics of depression, anxiety, and suicide (which they are VERY much against). As for the tattoos, they all have special meanings to him, and as far as I've hear, if you ask him personally, he might tell you what they mean, but he doesn't share the meanings publicly like through social media. They are special to him. And the neck thing, yeah that's paint. Same with his hands. It's another symbolic thing. He paints his hands and neck black because it represents this fears, doubts, and anxieties about the things he writes, his singing, his music....The more black there is, the more it feels like those fears, doubts, and anxieties are suffocating him. " A lot of Twenty One Pilots is symbolism and metaphor, but they are a band that when you're feeling good, you can just pop them on and rock out to a lot of their songs, cuz they sound bright, upbeat and happy. But when you need to feel something, you pay attention to the lyrics and what he's saying, and I can tell you right now, there was a long time that could not get through without crying. I'm a 35 year old, big hairy dude, and these guys have had me bawling like a baby in my work van more times than I cared to admit. But that's because I lived those songs. I've been in those situations. Like this one, I can distinctly remember back in high school looking to get my ass ran over more than once, because I didn't want to live anymore. Been struggling with depression for more than 20 years now. And I wish so much that I had these guys back then.

He has struggled with his mental health and this song is about him wanting to end his life. This whole album is about him fighting through that and seeing the light in his life.
