This really is just one song! It's not even that out of sequence, once you remove the spoken "documentary" bits, compared to the album version. This is one of the songs that really epitomizes their work for me. Their music spans so many different genres, sometimes multiples within the same song, and tempo changes and style changes are really the only thing you can count on. I love it! I saw you did Migraine and Car Radio as well, I'd love to see you react to some of their stuff from their more recent albums, but honestly, you can't go wrong with pretty much any of their stuff. And their live performances are *amazing!*

It's still just the two of them on stage. They make all the beats and backing tracks and backing vocals and Josh, the drummer, triggers the tracks with a laptop and drum pad. You can see the laptop in their live footage (especially from that footage of the 12 person concert). Now I think he uses a foot pedal to trigger the tracks with the help from the sound techs. They don't play this one at concerts anymore. It was their opening song when they were touring their album Vessel (which this is the opening track). Each album tour cycle they open with the first track on the album. So during the Blurryface album cycle, it was the song HeavyDirtySoul, and on Trench it was Jumpsuit. So who knows what the opening song will be when they can start touring again (guess it depends on when the next album come out)

Yes yes yes you will be so blown away by their performance of Tree's live Fox theatre. I've seen them perform Tree's live and it's literally life changing a spiritual journey. You really can't go wrong with Twenty one pilots everything they've ever done is pure genius. Tyler (the singer, rapper, songwriter, multi instrumentalists, and producer writes most of their music with the occasion every once in awhile collaboration. Josh in my opinion is the most versatile drummer I've ever seen. I've heard nearly 100 songs from them and I've never even heard one just ok they're all phenomenal and they're all so different in the most brilliant way. ||-//

oh no not piecing together different song. That is one song. They switch it up a few times in the song....(think "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Ode To Sleep has been compared to that song.) Now reaction over you should check out the song on a lyric video and you'll hear it all together without the docu insertions.

Tyler doesn't lip sync during the live shows, but they do utilize backing vocals as well as backing tracks for a lot of the synths and other background Instrumentals. Tyler goes back and forth between playing live on the keyboard, bass guitar & ukulele. Their most recent release, prior to the Christmas track they just barely dropped, Level of Concern is the 1st track he's written using an electric guitar. So I anticipate that Instrument will be making an appearance on their next record and live shows whenever they're able to start doing them again. 🤞

It's just one song. That's the beauty of TØP, one song sounds like 3 in 1. Also, no lip-synching exists with them. Tyler always sings live. They're amazing! Just a friendly suggestion... you may want to pause when looking at the lyrics because you will miss so much in their music videos. Keep them twenty one pilots reactions coming 😊

For concert the band spends a long time making “back tracks” so it’s just drums the singing and some extra instruments when needed (ukulele etc)

the guys play their parts live, drums, trumpet, vocals, piano, uke, etc. and do a Phenomenal job with the music and the energy. Everything else they need is all backing tracks produced by them. They play a heavy rolein programing and designing their concert experiences n involve unique crowd interactions. Honestly a great show if you can catch it. they pride themselves on the live vibes

This is all one song - if you listen the first two portions of the video are the recorded version but the last portion is live - you can hear the crowd in the background- theyre so good it sounds exactly the same Its always just those two on stage at concerts - very rarely they'll bring out someone from one of their opening acts to maybe play an instrument - otherwise Tyler is very picky about playing with other artists This song has really good lyrics but its hard to concentrate on them because the video is so good

To again show how creative they are (there are sooo many to choose from..) but check out The Hype (official video) and then right after The Hype (Berlin sessions)..such talent. Also My Blood official has a mind bending ending. Neon gravestones for a beautiful message. Chlorine to be introduced to Ned. Trees for more live brilliance. The Trench trilogy and Pet Cheetah are my favs.

They use backing track for the parts of the music Josh and Tyler can't make live (mostly synth) because there's only two of them. Also there's Tyler's backing vocals. Josh* controls or controlled, the equipment, in the bigger shows I think they have sound guys to take care of that. But the drums, main vocals and every instrument Tyler plays at the show, is still live and not recorded beforehand. I think it's hard to fit those together (the live act and something you have recorded), and if something goes wrong, you gotta stop the track and start again. Of course they have also loops and fills for the shows, if there's a speech or something. *That's why you see Tyler gaze at Josh in some videos, making sure they are on the same page.

No other band members live, just the 2 of them. Tyler is the vocalist as well as plays the keys/piano and bass a lot live and Josh is on the drums. They play the backing track off a laptop live I believe

Hi. Nice reaction! Two things to ponder (actually, one to ponder, then one series of requests). You were mentioning genre. Just something to consider, which holds true in so many of their songs, but especially this one: some bands don't switch their sound up as much in a thirty-year career as Josh and Tyler do in this one song!! And as far as requests for what to listen to... this will seem strange, but the purpose is to give you an example of how they play by themselves, then turn that into the actual collaboration with other musicians that you were mentioning. Normally I would NOT suggest doing things out-of-order with these guys, but you seem to really understand and appreciate the process (in other words, your reactions are not simply facial expressions that end with "Thanks for watching!")! So, these five songs, in any order, I suggest either official videos or official audio: Heathens, Lane Boy, Tear in My Heart, Ride, and HeavyDirtySoul (no spaces). AFTER watching an official version of each of these, watch the 25+ minute video of TØPxMutemath, aka The Mutemath Sessions. Mutemath opened for them on the first leg of the Emotional Roadshow tour which supported the album Blurryface. Josh and Tyler admired these guys growing up. Paul Meany, on keys and vocals, also co-produced Twenty One Pilots' last album, Trench, with Tyler. Again, because you seem to have a real understanding and appreciation of the process, I think you will be blown away by the re-imagining of these songs. BTW, they reimagine a lot of their stuff, sometimes made bigger, sometimes stripped to the bare bones. You could do a single video doing a comparison of such (I would STRONGLY suggest The Hype - Official, then Berlin sessions, for that). The whole point of this long novel of a comment is because you seem to really understand the process behind-the-scenes, I think you will really enjoy and respect these particular songs and their alternate versions. In all honesty, I think you will find that you will enjoy almost every one of their songs you listen to, more so than other bands, because no two are exactly alike (much more than as with other bands). That will make more sense as you keep watching. I hope you continue to enjoy the ride! Cheers!
