Stick with it! The market may be tough, but find your niche and stick with it until it becomes your specialty. For some it may be trucks, for others it’s student cars for under $2k.

I wish Rob, or I, could remember where/how we met the first time. We bumped into each other in Charlotte a few years later, had some awesome conversation, and I wish we'd have stayed in touch. He had a genuine way about him, which is ungodly rare nowadays. In just a 20 minute conversation back then, he made me feel like I'd made a friend... and he wasn't selling anything (aside from himself). Thanks to Rob/"Rabbit" and KZbin, we'll always these clips of his one-of-one candor. Have a good one, Rob 🫡

When I was 20 I worked in a metal shop as a welder. Great paying job as a kid. I didn't even have the smarts to buy a house. Instead I rented the biggest house I could afford and lived paycheck to paycheck making 50 thousand a year. 2 years late the company that I had sold my soul to let me go due to an injury requiring surgery. I decided right then that I was going to do something different and be my own boss. I started my real estate career and have never looked back, I haven't made 50 thousand a year in real estate yet. (Going on my second year.) But I have so much more financial freedom because I manage it better. I own a house. I've eliminated most of my debt. And most importantly, I am truly happy. I make my own hours. I get to be home with my wife and daughter and provide for us. Thanks Rabbit.

Great advice. I'd advise a 20 yr old to be self employed as soon as possible. Don't borrow money for depreciating assets like cars. Live below your means. Remember that poor people are always trying to appear rich. Pay yourself first (savings, retirement, training, or invest in a business). Finally, you become who you hang out with.

I think we all have those shoda coda woda moments. I am 70 years old and look back wishing, at times, that I would have taken a different path. But then again I would have never had the experiences in life that I had. No matter where you are or what you do there are always setbacks. The thing is you take those, learn from them and keep going. I am still moving forward with things in my life at this point I don't know how I got anything done when I was working full time. I still work a few hours a day. The thing is I have to give you kudos for sharing with us on KZbin.

Starting in the car biz I saw the old sales men shying away from the internet and saying it will kill the car business. I figured that everything was going that way and I won’t survive on lot ups a lot. To sell 20+ a month I took advantage of them not having an internet department and ran it for all 3 stores and 6 brands of new cars. I figured I need to get a jump on this internet thing and boy I was right! Now with my own lot I invest in the internet heavily and get most of the business from the internet. Thanks for the validation and good stories!

1986 i saw the light with upcoming computer use. I attended UGA Computer School. Learned to use one with my Home Building Business. 1988, the bottom fell out of homebuilding. I lost my business. 1989, I got in the car business as a salesman at the Local Ford dealership. So, I set up my computer on my sales desk to help me keep track of customers wants and needs. Boom ! I was selling cars like crazy. I was the 1st car salesman in Athens, Ga. to have a PC on my desk. The old guys were pissed calling me a cheater because they didn't have one and they were too stupid to learn to use one. Long story short. In a few years a buddy and I opened our own car lot. I absolutely needed to hear this right now in my life, Rabbit. I like to think I’m more mature but I’m really not, continuous reiteration of maintaining working capital and the value of maintaining working capital I have been a continuous same in my life. I can’t break past broke if I put all my eggs in one basket. It is the doubt in my mind that I might not be successful enough to continue paying state mortgage, well if you see that happening and you have three months six months worth of savings hell even a week here in Asheville you can sell the place and do something else rent for a while if you have to but you’re not going to profit without having something to pitch and for self-employed folks that is there working capital. Thanks for the videos, cheers! Big love from the mountains up 26 Watch those guard rails though

Short box, regular cab 4x4 with a 5 speed. 35,000 miles on the odometer now(I’ve driven it a lot this month) One owner from new, all the maintenance records kept from new. Man is Hawaiian, comes to Alaska to fish in the summers sometimes, he used the truck to get around. Other than that it sat in his garage for years not being used. Ive put in a Grizzly LSD in the rear with strange engineering axles, Grizzly locker in the front with Yukon axles. Swapped out the vacuum hubs and put on manual hubs. P.S I didn’t need braces, my teeth are perfect 🤩

I can relate literally zero life experience so you have no idea were its going or if it was the right choice all you pretty much know its your committed to it now were ever "it" may go. And it's one of those Life Choices we're even now there's no hindsight to reflect back on.
