Twenty Years Ago is one of my favorite songs and you do it justice. I remember buying the 45 rpm record of this song back in 1986 when I was a young man in the Air Force. For me, it's also 35 or 40 years ago and perhaps 45. It depends on how far back I want to go back in time. It's certainly more than 20 years ago but it doesn't matter because the song is basically about returning to your hometown and your roots and wistfully looking back and longing for the past which is gone forever. It's bittersweet and sad. Thank you for your beautiful rendition and for touching my soul. It's time to leave California and visit my native New Jersey for a spell. Dorothy was right when she said there's no place like home. There isn't.

Wow! This was terrific. Truly! Since we're sharing memories here, I guess for me, it's been almost 25 years out of high school and my little home town memories. Seems like a lifetime ago (and I guess it really was.) I wouldn't trade anything to go back 'cause I wouldn't have what I have now. It was easier (in some ways) yet still had it's own set of problems. I guess that's all part of growing up and being an adult. I might have more friends then but I have different ones now like you!

Larry..I have to say that yes, i do like a lot of Kenny Roger's music, however you ARE the only one that can do what you did with this song..You capture the emotion in every song..And this song is sure the hell full of that...When i listen to this, it makes me think of one thing.That would be how much easier my life was 20 years ago, but how much better it is now with the people in my life, like the sweet friend you are.I wouldn't trade that for anything.A truly beautiful cover here..ione marie
