Hey brother... If you had 5lakhs budget today. Which bike would you prefer for long touring purpose (no offroading). Was planning for one but confused which to go with as there are many options like retro bikes - classic, interceptor, etc... cruise bikes like super meteor, etc... adventure bikes like himalayan, triumph, ktm adv., n etc etc. N just many more. Please suggest with your wise experience. ✨️

In a real world it’s just an emotional purchase for folks with thick dough. Yamaha Tenere Extreme would do a similar job with no questions asked.

@@weeabooartzz1695 It’s not Yamaha, it’s the import policies of India, anything below 800cc will attract 100% duty, and Yamaha knows nobody will pay 16 lac for the Tenere 700, so technically it will never see the light in India, unless there is a Tenere 800 in the making, which is highly unlikely, it’s selling enough numbers worldwide, so why fuck around for just few numbers that would sell in India. Same happened with the Ducati 698 Supermoto, which has the same price as of Hypermotard 950. Another example is Tuareg which is selling for an obnoxious price in India.

@@farmersidd dude if Honda can launch transalp(750cc) and suzuki can launch it's v-strom(776cc) at a good price despite being CBU, then Yamaha can too(and both are below 800cc), and leave tenere for a sec see what they have done with R3 launced it after almost half a decades as a CBU do India don't have a market for 300's , if Aprilia can manufacture their RS457 in India and export to the world, duke 390 can be manufactured and export to the world, then can't Yamaha even do a CKD. And yes there are import taxes in our country that are just a form of loot, but who will benefit from it if they were to be assembled in India. Were there no import taxes on transalp or v-strom. And even on the price front suzuki is more costly than tenre and it's 11 something in Delhi-NCR, so it's clearly a Yamaha problem.

@@weeabooartzz1695 Well your point on the transalp and the v-storm makes a strong case for itself, I totally agree that Yamaha is quite slow at moving things in India, despite giving us machine like the RD 350 back in the 80s. As far as I know Yamaha Tenere is made in France only for the global market. There is some kinda issue with the import treaty with Europe. That’s why any import from Europe under 800cc doesn’t enjoy any sort of benefit. If possible Yamaha would surely get it. We both know how important and desirable Yamaha is in all categories. Let’s hope that they can setup a CKD, which they can surely do and I reckon they are very much exploring this possibility.. Import treaty with Japan also enjoys tax benefits. For example Yamaha got the MT 09 few years ago and the last price I remember was 9.50L ex-showroom, which was a brilliant price for a machine like the MT09. It’s was a direct import from Japan. Unfortunately, it didn’t do well because people in India had very less motorcycling intellect then and could be the same today. Give it a thought policies to please domestic corporate lobby interests is destroying interests of the people of India. I feel policies should be balanced and not polarising.
