JYP wrote Feel Special for Twice during a very tough and crucial part of their careers. Mina was also in mental health hiatus during this era. After hearing the struggles from the members, he wrote the song, the lyrics as sort of a message to each other on how they are there for each other as a group and family regardless of anything. So the song is very *special* for the members and the fans.

Just to add, JYP even got the lyrics framed up and gifted it to Sana, cos it was his first time seeing Sana lost her smile due to netizens taking what she wrote in Instagram out of context. (Mina was not yet diagnosed with anxiety when he wrote the song.)

@@Basiknes Please dont spread wrong informations, Mina couldn't perform for some time due to anxiety & a knee injury that putted even more pressure on her mental & physical health esp during their hectic schedule that time, the political tension had nothing to do with her hiatus!

The anger among Koreans toward Japan has created a movement among K-pop fans here to expel Japanese members of K-pop bands in Korea. The anti-Japan sentiment follows Japan's exclusion of Korea from its "white list" of trading countries early this month that hit Japanese exports of semiconductor material to Korea, a global chip-making giant. After JYP Entertainment, TWICE's agency, announced on July 14 that Mina would miss the tour due to "mental distress," speculation mounted that anti-Japan fans may have traumatized the star.

Many would say that "Fancy" and its album was the start of the transition to a more mature Twice, so I would definitely also include that album.

Feel Special is more about how the members feel about each other and how they make each other feel special. Notice in the MV that it all starts with them singing alone but towards the middle of the MV, you can actually see they're all paired and aren't alone anymore. Dahyun bringing Sana a brightly colored umbrella when everyone else is holding a black umbrella. Mina's lyrics ESPECIALLY hit hard when you know her backstory and why she had to take a break.

In this album Nayeon wrote the lyrics for Rainbow, Jihyo for Get Loud (it's indeed for the haters and the media, she said she wrote it when she was angry, absurd rumors were circulating about her during that time) Dahyun Trick it and Momo Love Foolish. 21: 29 was written by all the members, each one wrote their part and its dedicated to ONCE. This era was tough for Twice and ONCE, especially because of Mina's hiatus, so Feel Special is a really meaningful song for us.

Fancy is probably the actual transition point. That said, their older discography and MV's deserve a lot of love. Not giving them a chance is a tragic mistake. Many are often surprised how much they like their older mv's and the b-sides are still super super excellent.

This year (2019) was so hard for Twice and Onces, the massive hate they were receiving, and Mina in a hiatus due anxiety problems... I remember how much i cried when I saw the mv bc the lyrics are so important and we didn't knew that Mina was goig to appear in the mv!!! Feel Special has a special spot in my heart, and the album is SO GOOD!!! Everyone was in shock bc of the concept and momo without bangs, dahyun's rap, Love Foolish banger written by momo, sana's pink hair, the outfits.... Thank you for reacting to more TWICE. Feel Special is a really personal song for TWICE and ONCEs as you've read. The Feel Special Dance practice was also filmed in 2020 during the More & More era as Mina was on hiatus. A funny backstory behind Get Loud, Jihyo said she wrote it while pretending to be angry.

She was actually really angry when she wrote Get Loud, as she was dragged (by some clout seeking media and haters) into the YG Burning Sun incident, even when she got nothing to do with it. Haters even start going for he family. So Get Loud is to warn those haters / stupid media to stop.

The purple line is the last color in the rainbow. So I think "you can get to the purple line" means you can reach the end of the rainbow, or you can get through to the end of the storm. Also Nayeon revealed in an interview that the whistle note is done by an instrument, not one of them.

in this music video, they are talking about the other members and how they all make eachother feel special. jihyo and nayeon are looking at eachother mina and chaeyoung are looking at eachother momo and tzuyu are looking at eachother dahyun and sana are looking at eachother jeongyeon is looking at another version of herself. this song has to be my favourite twice title track because of its important meanings, especially when many of them were struggling during this era.

Feel Special was written by JYP during a difficult time for TWICE. It was during Mina's hiatus when she departed for anxiety and depression and the lyrics came from a deep conversation between JYP and TWICE over dinner. The song lyrics tell the story of what the girls mean to each other as well as what the fandom means to them. I personally believe this song is the reason our fandom and bond with the members is so strong - because everyone stopped taking that love for granted and only built upon it and made it stronger. We cheer for all members, we support all members, when one member is missing (as jeongyeon was too for a time), that absence is felt deeply in the group and amongst Onces. It is our anthem for raising each other up. It's why to this day it is probably the most special song amongst the members when asked what song do they cherish the most and why it's such a powerful song whenever they perform it on stage.

This dance practice was filmed when they were practicing for the More & More comeback (about 8-9 months after Feel Special) just to incorporate Mina (that is why this is the complete version while the dance practice previously was only 8-members).

Also just an FYI, theres a complete version and uncompleted version of the Feel Special dance practice. Uncomplete version was filmed when Mina was on hiatus so there's only 8 members but the complete version was shot when Mina came back and had all 9 members in the dance practice. And notice Mina is center in the opening shot of the choreo. That's why.

Jihyo wrote Get Loud in the time where she was wrongly accused of being a victim in the burning sun scandal (if you don't know what that was I suggest reading about it, it's an important event to know about in general regarding kpop), and Jihyo suffered a lot from those rumors and had severe anxiety for a while because of it. She traveled separately from the other members for a bit because traveling all together meant being in the public eye and being harassed by reporters.

Actually if you deep dive to their older albums like their first mini album they have different variety of sound, different genres that they used. They are not just cutesy, bubblegum pop, or what so ever. Twice's songs and the lyrics itself are too deep and too sad especially their older b-sides and titlte tracks as well.
