signal is definitely one of those type of songs that you could literally enjoy listening to even if you're only playing its instrumental track. i've been a once since knock knock era and i could safely say that not a lot of ppl were very pleased with the song when it first came out but i loved it ever since day one, it def deserved its song of the year title. anw, thanks for this reaction fifi! i haven't listened to twice's old songs in such a long time and it was great to get to enjoy it along with your reactions! hoping you could do more twice in the future once you have the time to do so, no pressure ^^

few tips/info "Like OOH-AHH" was a commercial failure for JYPE and was not received as well as expected for a debut song. (It picked up and peaked after the success of "Cheer Up") "Cheer Up" was the song that had TWICE rise to fame and named "Koreas National Girl Group" since it went crazy viral in Korea (The OG nations girl group "Girls Generation" was loosing it's grip and a year later went on a long hiatus that lasts till today) . That's why everybody in variety shows danced to it . Also it's the first song that gave them a "Song of the Year" award There are a few theories linking "TT" and "Knock Knock" but the most prevalent one (imo) is that the story is like a "time paradox" where "Knock Knock" is the prequel to "TT" . The magic book transforms them into spirits with the forms of the characters in the book and they perform as such for the kids in "TT" also beginning a time/space loop. (moral of the story for me : Don't shut the door in your boss face when he visits) . Also "TT" choreo was maybe the next best thing to happen to K-Pop after "Gangnam Style" since it went crazy viral all over the place "Signal" is one of the least favorite tittle tracks in the fandom and it's their second "Song of the Year" award winner making TWICE a SOTY winner 2 years in a row ( they managed to snatch it next year also with "What is love" making them a 3 year in a row SOTY winner 2016-2017-2018) P.S If you haven't heard any songs from the new Japanese release brace yourself for the rap part in "Good at love" , but basically the whole song 👍

1. GG (SNSD) is not the OG NGG, SES is the OG NGG from the 1st Gen and their physical album sales is still higher than SNSD, too bad that SNSD had not done group comeback for quite a while. 2, I think LOA pick up its momentum towards end of 2015 and peaked on digital charts early 2016, way before Cheer Up. The physical album also exceeded 65K sales before Cheer Up releases and added another 20K during Cheer Up era, so influence of Cheer Up is not that much. It is also interesting that even though their debut album was not an immediate success, the MV is hugely successful and became the most viewed debut MV for a kpop group within 6 months.

Cheer Up is the song that put Twice at the top of the kpop girl groups. Knock Knock gets a bad rap for several reasons. Some didn't like the vague connection to TT others felt the choreo was too simple. And Signal was a more experimental sound and people either loved it (like me) or hated it.

Thank you so much for this reaction Fifi! I wasn't expecting it but it was so fun rewatching these MVs with you, take your time but I'm already exited for the next Twice marathon. I'm not sure if you are familiar with What is Love but I think you'll enjoy the MV, it has a lot of movie references so it's kind of iconic. I think the best way to get to know the members is seeing them interact with each other, I'd recommend you see their Time to Twice series but I know it might be intimidating because there are a lot of episodes so I'l think of some short videos to recommend next time. Dahyun is certainly one of the most charismatic people in the world so there should be a lot of material there lol
