Twiggy oh my goodness. She was my model hero. I was in my teens when we first noticed her in America. I was skinny like her, I was a natural blonde. I went and had my hair cut just like hers. And dressed as close to her as I could. Twiggy I'll never forget you. As you came up on Goggle. I just had one big smile. Thank you for my teenage years!!!

Woody was burning on intellectualism with that bit. Watch *Woody Allen stuck on a movie line* , a 3min scene from Annie Hall Funny how it's the pseudo leftist intellectuals who are the PC police who inflate humor into hate and inflate hate into humor. Woody's movies attempted to teach intellectuals to make fun of themselves, instead they've become Hitler in 2024.

I am completely glad I watched this. I've always thought she was amazingly beautiful, but I don't think many of us knew how incredibly smart and sensible she is. She obviously has standards that she lives up to and to be as relevant today as she was when she started is a very great accomplishment. I don't really ever expect to get on KZbin and find a 'Whatever Happened to Twiggy' video. When she leaves public life, if she ever does, she'll do it because she wants to and on her terms. That's a true and very valid successful existence.

I don't recall that models were particularly tall back then. 5ft 6in would have been about standard, I think. I went for some interviews for modelling as a teenager in the 60s and I was 5ft 6in, and this was never raised as an issue - although perhaps surprisingly, I was told a couple of times I was a bit too thin and would have to put on some weight to fit into stock dress sizes! ETA: But maybe this was after Twiggy had set a new standard - for height, if not for weight.

Some of us were very tiny slim, petite short girls but very curvy. Yes we all wanted to look tall and willowy, just like Twiggy. We dieted and exercised to dangerous points but could never get 'the Twiggy look". I don't know what was in our brains back then. We didn't do drugs... We just thought the boys would love us if we looked like Twiggy. But they didn't seem to worry if we were curvy and had hips, boobs and a tiny 19inch waist, like I had(if only I could get my hips and boobs down to same size as my waist, I used to think, in despair...). Older women would look at us silly young ones trying to be like Twiggy and say "You look like a shapeless twig, a piece of floorboard or something...Not at all a womanly shape a real man would desire..."But we just dismissed such senior female comments as old bags talking who didn't have a clue about fine class and style.I admit to buying a Twiggy style dress and shortening it, to show off long legs. At least I had legs. And the boys would go "Wow! She's got legs that go up to her waist! Get a load of that!". We finally realised that we did not have to Twiggy like in order to score with the best of the lads...Thank God for that! And our mothers sighed with relief that we girls were not going to die of anorexia, after all...
