Twiggy oh my goodness. She was my model hero. I was in my teens when we first noticed her in America. I was skinny like her, I was a natural blonde. I went and had my hair cut just like hers. And dressed as close to her as I could. Twiggy I'll never forget you. As you came up on Goggle. I just had one big smile. Thank you for my teenage years!!!

I never took notice before, but Twiggy , starting off as a model in about 1966 and like you said "we're all in our 70's now, then you were all in the same age group as Steve Marriott of the Small Faces, when they were big, from 1965 to 1969? ( I guess you can tell I was and still am a Small Faces fan, especially a fan of Steve Marriott).

Woody was burning on intellectualism with that bit. Watch *Woody Allen stuck on a movie line* , a 3min scene from Annie Hall Funny how it's the pseudo leftist intellectuals who are the PC police who inflate humor into hate and inflate hate into humor. Woody's movies attempted to teach intellectuals to make fun of themselves, instead they've become Hitler in 2024.

I am completely glad I watched this. I've always thought she was amazingly beautiful, but I don't think many of us knew how incredibly smart and sensible she is. She obviously has standards that she lives up to and to be as relevant today as she was when she started is a very great accomplishment. I don't really ever expect to get on KZbin and find a 'Whatever Happened to Twiggy' video. When she leaves public life, if she ever does, she'll do it because she wants to and on her terms. That's a true and very valid successful existence.

I don't recall that models were particularly tall back then. 5ft 6in would have been about standard, I think. I went for some interviews for modelling as a teenager in the 60s and I was 5ft 6in, and this was never raised as an issue - although perhaps surprisingly, I was told a couple of times I was a bit too thin and would have to put on some weight to fit into stock dress sizes! ETA: But maybe this was after Twiggy had set a new standard - for height, if not for weight.

Some of us were very tiny slim, petite short girls but very curvy. Yes we all wanted to look tall and willowy, just like Twiggy. We dieted and exercised to dangerous points but could never get 'the Twiggy look". I don't know what was in our brains back then. We didn't do drugs... We just thought the boys would love us if we looked like Twiggy. But they didn't seem to worry if we were curvy and had hips, boobs and a tiny 19inch waist, like I had(if only I could get my hips and boobs down to same size as my waist, I used to think, in despair...). Older women would look at us silly young ones trying to be like Twiggy and say "You look like a shapeless twig, a piece of floorboard or something...Not at all a womanly shape a real man would desire..."But we just dismissed such senior female comments as old bags talking who didn't have a clue about fine class and style.I admit to buying a Twiggy style dress and shortening it, to show off long legs. At least I had legs. And the boys would go "Wow! She's got legs that go up to her waist! Get a load of that!". We finally realised that we did not have to Twiggy like in order to score with the best of the lads...Thank God for that! And our mothers sighed with relief that we girls were not going to die of anorexia, after all...

@@CesareVesdani I actually may have botched that. I could have sworn the story growing up was that Peggy was Twiggy's personal assistant, but I literally just got off the phone with my dad and he just told me something I had never heard before - that Twiggy and Peggy were actually very good friends and owned a strip club together... which he "believes" was called The Pink Lady. I'm going to have to ask a few relatives to confirm that name though. Aunt Peggy was the wife of actor Paul Burke (from The Naked City), and she was actually a stand-in for Rosemary Clooney too. Twiggy was cute, I didn't grow up in the sixties but my mother always talked about Twiggy. I just watched her in this John Carpenter movie called body bags, in the early 90s. She was older, at least in her early forties. To be honest, I thought she looked a lot better when she got older and had a little more meat on her then when she was that tiny pixie. Nevertheless an icon in fashion, but I definitely like her hair and her look when she got older. I wish you did more acting gigs!

One of the most beautiful faces ever. Gorgeous. I see alot of name dropping in these comments saying this person or that person came before her, then why is it she gets the credit? Obviously they’re all missing something while Twiggy brings it all together, her lips and blue eyes are like a work of art

There were no women like her before, nor after. That is a hoax. Twiggy is the greatest female personality of all time. She is 72 now and looks very beautiful still at her age. God bless Twiggy.

I styled my eyes after Twiggy !! I just love her still !!💖 I'd trim my eye liner brushes down as thin as I could to paint those lower lashes !! I'd take forever to get my makeup done as much like hers as I could!!( luckily I have big enough eyes to be able to pull off such a look !!)👀 Yes! A Southern California girl , styled after Twiggy! Even had to have "Yardley of London" brand white frosted lipstick !!.I can't count how many times I got sent home from school for wearing mini skirts and dresses!! Lol !! 😆 🤣💕
