Dawn of The Dead -> People need to work together and form a new society within wall 300 -> Leonidas and his army Watchmen -> Well, that's the only film that doesn't have so much teamwork involved despite having a super-hero team. Legend of The Guardians -> Soren and his group need to find the Guardians. Sucker Punch -> Girls need to work together to escape from a terrible place. Man of Steel -> It might be Superman's origin, but it's about how two people can co-exist. Batman v Superman -> Two different men need to work together Justice League -> A group of super-heroes is born and with them a new age where collective spirit reigns. Army of The Dead -> A group comes together because of money. They all die terrible deaths except the soul who was interested in helping her immigrant friend. Rebel Moon -> Outsiders and villagers become one community. Definitely a common theme in his work, but they are all different films.

Which is weird as Loki is a Jotnar - but then we have no clear idea of what a Jotunn is supposed to look like (other than giant humanoids with blue-white skin). But then, Loki is renowned for his mastery of magic and skills as disguise - appearing like a Dark Elf could simply be a fashion choice for a dude who once changed into a mare, had sex with a celestial stallion and gave birth to a six legged horse that he later gifted as a mount to his adoptive dad.

I am a little confused... "Twilight of the gods" is a literal translation of the Title of the 4th part of Wagner's Opera - "Götterdämmerung". And that is Snorri Sturluson's translation of the nordic term "ragnarök". But nowadays, his translation isn't used anymore, because it's probably wrong - the term "ragnarök" is to be translated to "fate of the gods". So is this show meant to be a nod to Wagner's Opera? Does anyone know? 😅 Awesome Trailer by the way! I'm definetly watching this! :D

I loved the series. This is a tremendous show that leans into Norse mythology and does it better than anything out of Marvel. It is so good. I am not against a season 2, but I think the show is a perfect 1 and done. Sometimes it is better to leave it, than ruin it by sequelizing everything. There is no Norse myth that depicts Thor acting in an evil manner! Thor is a protector and defender of Asgard and humanity, and NOT an evil figure. Thor’s character is described as strong, courageous, and benevolent, with a strong sense of justice and a desire to protect those he cares about. I don't want to give you spoilers but it makes sense in context; the trailer doesn't reveal who Sigrid is or who "her people" Thor kills are; but him being angered at this wedding and murdering her people is very much in-line with his main motivation in Norse mythology

If she is related to Trolls or Frost Giants, then Thor deservedly squashed her relatives. This looks like an inversion of Norse mythology in that the protector of humanity, Thor, is being cast as the villain. Asatruar will not appreciate this movie.

Wonder why it's so much easier for directors to make kick ass films and series in 2D than in 3D. For example the DC cartoons vs DCEU, Xmen cartoons vs Xmen the movies, and now this looks so much better than Rebel Moon.

Thor defends humans against the chaos of fire and ice, the "giants" and the monsters. Thor doesn't have a role in enforcing marriage contracts or whatever is going on here. This is basically taking the trope of gathering a warband of heroes or anti-heroes to fight against an existential threat from beyond our normal reality (13th Warrior, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.) and "subverting your expectations" by (1) casting Thor, protector of mankind, as the villain and (2) gender bending the cast, so that the bigger, physically stronger, and the more crass a character is, the more likely it is to be female. I can't say the trailer isn't pretty--it certainly seems to be well animated and the art direction looks great--but the plot looks pretty bad. Maybe some people want to see hulking, brutish women team up with Loki to protect the domesticated "Viking" men from the wrath of a petulant thunder god and the Asir patriarchy, but I have my doubts.

I've watched 7.5 of 8 episodes and I couldn't stomach the final half of the last episode and it's mega woke. Netflix cannot make anything that doesn't have tons of identity politics. The "men bad and weak and need saving, women noble and strong and do the saving and only love other women" message is strong with this series. Bad guys who can fight off like 60 trained warriors and not get hit, get hit by 1 middle aged women. Geeze Netflix, dont you ever get tired of being so predictable? The one bright spot is that netflix often does not make a second season so I hope that pattern holds true. You know if Netflix makes it...it's gonna be woke.

This looks nothing like Wagner’s opera nor classical telling a of Ragnarök. In fact it doesn’t look like it respects the actual myths. Rather, it feels like another miss-take on nordic mythology by people whose grasp of it comes from Marvel’s version of Thor.
