Twilight Princess Low%'s rupee sliding shenanigans have made it infamous in speedrunning circles. The world record dropped nearly 11 hours in the last year, and this video covers how exactly that happened.

You know, one day there will be some psycho who tries to rupee slide all the way to the throne room of Zelda’s castle, and the only thing stopping a “fastest speed run” from being months long is probably the console overheating.

Fun fact: when someone tried to explain why the Any% run is so long, and explained how the two guards are as strong as the yellow barrier that goes up around Hyrule Castle, it did make me think "Could we rupee slide past the guards in front of the gate to get to Hyrule Castle earlier?" I hadn't actually considered the idea of Low%'ing directly *into* the final throne room, but...barring height requirements (Given the rupee slide requires Link to be touching ground as I understand.), that...might actually be viable to skip more things.

The answer is sadly no, because there's no rupee in that place.

@@N12015 Yeah, initial testing on my end showed that you couldn't bring things across the fade out passages too, although for Low%, my next thought is using the Heart Container on the left screen (On the GCN map - the guy who asks you to donate a bunch of rupees) to Heart Container Slide through from there all the way through the gate.

@@bdhd2142 Ah, you mean for Map Glitch to prevent loading zones from triggering? It's possible, with the Master Sword and transforming into Wolf Link, I *think*, to trip Map Glitch in Hyrule Castle Town, but I've yet to pull it off myself. If I can do it in my most recent fun playthrough, I might try using the Heart Container to bypass the walls, and then try running into the Loading Zone of Hyrule Castle - though I don't know if it won't stop me anyways, because Map Glitch would still be on.

Super exciting development, and to echo another commentor, who would've though the biggest timeskip would have come from actually defining "items", lol. In order to do that, we'd need to have a rupee or some item on that map. Unfortunately, there's nothing of the sort, so we can't even start a slide there.

​@@anorakkisAs I understand, does this include considering the Piece of Heart in Hyrule Castle Town (The praying guy in the Lanayru)? You can pay for the piece of heart, and then...just not advance the dialogue once it gets idled?

@@ZT1ST It might be possible to get a pickup slide with that, but pickup slides can't go through loading zones - we'd need to start a pickup slide in North Castle Town in order to get through the barrier.
