Keyboardists just don't get the credit and fame they actually deserve! I love metal guitars, man, but I love equally the mighty keyboard synth! They can create other worldly sounds only found in one's imagination and also can be played lighting fast like a guitar!

Johansson auditioned for DreamTheater when Moore left the band...You understand why. To a personal level i've been knowing him since 1986 ( Malmsteen's Trilogy album ).

He didn't "lose" the gig, he joined Stratovarius instead because of slow desicion making in the DT camp. That spot was also initially for a tour keyboardist, that could also have affected Jens choice.

Rudess is a mere tick on Jens skin, Rudess lacks Jens feel and melodic sense, delivery etc. Imo Jens dwarfs him completly.

Rudess isn't even close to Jens in terms of variety of phrasing and melodic sensibilities. He sounds like he is trying toooo hard and all his solos sound like a bunch of notes thrown in without a purpose. Jens' solos seem to have a structure even if he deliberately plays absolutely crap!

It's a Yamaha DX7. The sound patch he's using is a patch he created himself using the Roland JV 80.
