I was born and raised here in San Diego Ocean Beach Sunset Cliffs where the fish was born from a man named Steve lis. the last wave that he rode in this video is how you ride a fish the rest of the waves he might as well been on a shortboard. but the last wave was very beautiful

Jetty Local So you say that's how you ride a fish. But if a surfer is able to rip on it like a more modern shortboard, what's wrong with that? I don't understand your perspective. If you're going off how the board is designed, the surfer clearly is pushing the limits Or maybe it's just your personal preference? You want everybody on a fish and single fin longboard to surf like the people did back in the 70s?

Jetty Local, he wasn't riding a proper Fish to begin with. He was riding a twin fin with a narrower nose and tail. Do I think he surfed it like a twin fin should be surfed? No way, he surfed like he was riding a Thruster, except he looked uncomfortable on a twin fin. Mark Smith, if he was riding a real San Diego Fish there is a proper way to surf it...really only one way. If you want to surf it differently don't surf a SD Fish. Surf a Rocket Fish (which Toledo is riding) or a Quad, etc... This guy shows you how to surf a twin fin or fish correctly, he is also a better all around surfer than Toledo, he just doesn't surf the contest scene. Most Brazilians have no style at all, good at contest surfing but no soul in free surfing. I do think Toledo has some style. Mark Smith yea I agree a board is like a guitar... play what ever you want when you want. Try telling that to wardo or Cory in the 90s how a fish should be surfed or Rasta in 2000 or mason now days. Just my opinion tho no hating ✌
