How is it that there is not a monument to Eddie Aikau? Legends are hard to find these days. Eddie would go. No matter what. RESPECT!

In 1989 I asked a Lifeguard on Waikiki Beach by the Hyatt where the good surfing waves were. He asked if I had surfed before and I answer no but I was a slalom water skier and skateboarder(again 1989). Lifeguard told me to surf Waikiki and he would tell me what break to hit. Well when I was finished he said "Good News, you're already at the best surf spot" for my skills. About 3 days later we drove to North Shore(late Oct) and saw real waves for first time. One actually crossed road while we were driving the coast. The Lifeguard on Waikiki Beach saved me without getting wet🤙

Very emotional for me, My daughter is a Beach guard in Florida. She went through the Jr. Lifeguard program. and has been a water woman ever since!

I work and live as a lifeguard here in Mar del Plata, Argentina. So much respect for you guys. Here we have a lot of sea culture because of our ancestors, even though the ocean here is not as brave and wavy as yours.
