This time on Episode 6 of Beyond the Black Stump, we head back out to Swan Gully 4x4 Park south of Brisbane. We hit some rocky hill climbs, someone's car breaks and Lacey does some pretty average skids in the GQ - business as usual then.

Swan gully is one bloody tough 4wd park, went there a few years ago with a suzuki club. Managed to do those hills in my jimny with 27" tyres haha. Though the club had many people with lots of experience and great at spotting.

Nice video. That looks annoying when something breaks off road. Ending the trip! Can happen to anyone at any random time! Are the jimmy's a good vehicle to get? What issues do they normally get (every vehicle has something) I imagine they're really good on softer stuff like sand due to their light kerb weight. Solid axles, coils all around and just over a metric tonne kerb weight.

I'd recommend a Jimny to anyone looking at getting into 4wding, they're heaps of fun to drive, very capable offroad and have a heap of aftermarket mods. Probably to most common issue is steering wobbles (as with most solid axle 4wds) but that's a relatively cheap fix. And yes, they do love the beach, the only time you could bog a jimny in sand is if it's very soft and you haven't dropped tyre pressures

Yeah not sure tbh. A locker + 35 inch treps is a lot of load on a cruiser diff, but I still wouldn’t expect it to go so easily

My brother dropped off a hilux diff to a diff specialist. There were over 100 hilux/cruiser diffs in there. They said they make the majority of their revenue off those differentials. When asked if they see patrol diffs they say hardly ever, as patrols use a truck differentials then laughed that the patrol engines always breaking. So maybe a patrol driveline with a land cruiser engine? :D
