Very nice video. I like the fact you manage to explain everything your are doing, while you do it, i find myself checking your channel everyday for new videos, and re watching your old ones ( i bought the PMDG 737 from watching your vids ) clear voice, everything explained, no loud music or notepad explanations. You got my sub and well earned too, keep up the good work.

You are correct, just followed a direct to course on the GPS. The next flight uses VOR and flies a VOR/DME approach.

Another excellent vid! Your impressions, plus stuff I've seen elsewhere onKZbin, makes me think Aerosoft got this flight model spot on. Another addition to my Christmas list!

Normally routes in BAV have an 'official' recommendation on the flight plan, but we are free to override that with our own. In the case of this flight there was no official plan on file, so I decided to fly VFR at 9000. In the final event, the flight came in at 98% of the actual scheduled trip time, so I think I was pretty close - climbing higher would have considerably lengthened the trip making me late. Also, I could not find a BA or FlyBe livery unfortunately.

Great first impressions Pete always love your videos. Sorry if this has been said before , but you do know that the runway at Barra is the beach so no markings and the flight times are dictated by the low tide times :) I watched a Twin Otter make a bumpy dive for runway 05 at Glasgow this morning through a mega thunderstorm , it looked interesting! :)

I realize this is an older video series but I just picked this plane up, have you tried shooting an approach to SABA from Princess Juliana? That's fun, one of the worlds shortest runways, something like 1300ft with a cliff face on one side!

I shall have to check that out. Thanks.

Hi Froogle, I think you'll find a Flybe livery for the Twin Otter on the Aerosoft forum under "Aircraft Repaints" It's really nice too, and done by Aerosoft themselves.
@MajorSitutation11 жыл бұрын
Hey Froogle. Love your vids. I know you probably didn't do it on purpose and it's just a first impression vid but the runway had a displaced threshold and you landed way before that ;). The nitpicker in me had to mention it. Keep up the good work!

Probably but bear in mind they take as long to record and even longer to edit as they do to fly. For any trip I do, take the trip time, multiply it by 5 and that's how long it takes to get a video pulled together. You can see why I'm not in a big hurry to do a 12 hour flight now right?
@wilmarbrouwer10 жыл бұрын
In my knowledge Barra doesn't have a real airport? But the Twin Otter lands on the beach at low tide.

Nice video, really educational. I have a problem getting the altitude autopilot to work, and i can see that even though you set the altitude to 9000ft it keeps you at 8900ft. Seems like it holds the altitude you where at, when pressing "ALT AP" and not getting you to the height dialed in, maybe im wrong but it does not seems like the "ALT AP" works properly.
@chakraUK10 жыл бұрын
From the Systems manual: "Note that using the autopilot to acquire an exact altitude, as set on the Altitude Alerter, the ALT button should not be used. The ALT button simply levels the aircraft at the altitude present when the ALT button was pressed. To acquire a selected altitude on the Altitude Alerter use either IAS mode or Autopilot manual vertical mode (Autopilot on, but with IAS, ALT and APPR unselected)." Hope this helps.

Hi Froogle, Another very informative video as usual, thanks again. Just a question though, I have the Aerosoft Barra on my sim, you land on sand with very little in the way of runway markings and it doesn't look very much like yours did. Was that default scenery or maybe dare I say not Barra, though I doubt Froogle would make an error like that! Oh and there is a Flybe livery on the Aerosoft website forum if you haven't seen my other comment. Great plane this, looking forward to the return
@vincentdufour957211 жыл бұрын
Nice job froog, if you wish to land on quite a close looks lile representation of Barra EGPR, you should have a look at the Aerosoft website, and look for Dangerous Airports 1, Barra is part of those, the beach is nice, ATC tower is there too, and the runways are not so easy to localize and land on it........;O)

Barra EGPR. I've read a few comments indicating that I may have landed in the wrong place so I double checked and nope, this is the right place. The default FSX scenery though looks absolutely nothing like the real one.

When training on a VFR aircraft for VFR flight, you will be strongly encouraged to NOT look at the instruments until you have a feel for the aircraft. When training IFR or higher, you will be told to focus on the instruments.

When you reach 100 videos you should do flight from Heathrow to NY in the 747. Gives you a while to learn it and then get it recorded.

Lots of different places. Really depends on what the addon is. For PMDG stuff, I'll give my money to PMDG. For Aerosoft, I go to Aerosoft. Smaller addons I'll use Flightsimstore etc. Sorry, there is no one easy answer.

Whenever I engage IAS on AP the aircraft pitches up heavily. Do you get the same behaviour?
@ihor6911 жыл бұрын
Pressures altitude and the altitude you're flying at are two different things, so when you were looking at the charts you're most likely looking at wrong altitude.
@docbrad26211 жыл бұрын
I know its just a first impressions, but as a general rule, in unpressurized aircraft, you shouldn't descend any faster than 1000fpm, or else it will be very uncomfortable pressure changes for the passengers. Great video tho!!
@jaredk81711 жыл бұрын
on the climb you can use full power its not an airliner and also it only stresses the engines if you do it for 10-15 minutes
@itsumonihon10 жыл бұрын
you only use full power if you need it in an emergency. you see those red lines? if your temperature exceeds or enters the red, your engines get melted and your mechanic gives you a big bill for replacing the compressor blades.
@jaredk81710 жыл бұрын

has anyone had any problem starting the right engine on this plane? i can't seem to get it to start manually or right clicking the check list. however when i start a mission using twin otter both engine runs no problem. any tips? thanks!
@sloblock19728 жыл бұрын
+Edrick Marquez Don't know if you got this sorted? Might be worth loading up a flight with a default aircraft (something with left and right fuel tank selectors - I actually use the Carenado B58 Baron), make sure you both fuel tank selectors are turned 'On', then switch vehicles to the Twin Otter. Another odd thing that happens if I don't do this is that only one of the fuel tanks will be used, regardless of how I set the switches.
@edrickmarquez75588 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip ***** . i will give it a try later
@sloblock19728 жыл бұрын
No problem, hope it works. I understand there is an issue in the way that FSX/P3D handles the fuel with some turbo-props (maybe even some jets too) that can cause engines not to start. This may or not be the problem. The usual way to solve it is to load up something like the default Cessna 172, make sure both fuel tanks are selected, then switch to the aircraft you are trying to start. P3D doesn't have the default Cessna 172, so I use my Carenado B58 Baron instead.

+Andy B_1972 yes it did work! thanks! i tried to manually start the right engine caught on fire...lol
@sloblock19728 жыл бұрын
+Edrick Marquez Haha 😄 Yes, I did that too at first. You just have to watch the Ng gauge once you flick the starter and don't add any fuel till it gets above 12%. Hope you enjoy the Twin Otter now!
