Twin Peaks: A Personified Dream

Twin Peaks might be my favorite piece of media, especially Fire Walk With Me. I can describe in some words what it means to me, but even as someone usually introspective and articulate, words fail to convey the depth and breath of meaning. I had a similar experience when I first watched Bergman's Persona, and its easy to see the influence of that work on Lynch's career. Twin Peaks encapsulates so much in the essence of life, and I find new insights with each watch. Great video!

Fire walk with me is just so good. The ending just bothers me incredibly, in the train car. Is insanity and emotional and terrifying and somehow cathartic. I wish the return had a resolution similar to fire walk with me. But fwwm was a prequel so it’s kinda unfair to compare. I still dunno what to think about the return … I’ve watched it 3 times and I think it’s just so out there. It has a lot of great moments esp judy stuff, woodsman stuff, but a lot of weird goofy stuff that’s not even quirky. Like the hulk hands guy. A lot of times I was going huh… instead of HUH!! Or HUH?!? I was just confused and wanted parts to be over like the scene where lynch was standing outside the trailer and the sky was swirling and it just kept going on and on and on and on. Or the whole storyline with the rich brothers and the weird group of girls they had with them 😂 candy stripper girls or something. Not enough Audrey. Laura’s mom was interesting. Laura at the end was good. The guy on the couch tho with the belly lol and the doppleganger stuff was totally acceptable. But I guess to me it just never really got me in the feels, in the curiosity, in the awkward quirkiness. I haven’t ever felt the same as when watching TP or FWWM. Return had its moments but overall I prefer to pretend it doesn’t exist except the first then final episodes.

Great video! I’ve been playing Alan Wake 2 and the amount of love given to twin peaks is on full display. There’s even a ride called “the percolator” 😂😂 🐠 ☕️ if you kno you kno Man… this makes me wanna watch Twin Peaks again… for the 100th+ time. Wild to think there’s only 2 seasons, a movie, and what’s essentially a bonus season. And it’s had such an effect on television and media of all types.
