Black lodge spirits like Bob can intercept electrical devices. That's why I think he'd rather give Bushnell a note rather than using his phone. It's pretty much the bases of how Gordan speaks in a really sarcastic tone. I think Gordan has always known more about the way the lodge spirit manipulate electrics, telegraph poles ect I think he's always known more than he lets on.

To add on that, Dale has always wanted to be in the vanguard. He wants Gordon to be his backup, but he wants to be first boots on the ground. It's his fight (with his doppelganger) after all.

I agree. This makes sense since Gordon [Cole] , Albert [?]and Garland [Briggs] & [Agent Jeffries] were ALL involved in Project Blue Book therefore they ALL know about BOTH Lodges and possibly have also have been there or have some intimate knowledge about both Lodges through mediums like Margaret Lanterman /The Log Lady and possibly Sarah Palmer and Hawke who is either a Seattle or Yakima Indian or BOTH would have intimate knowledge of the Lodges. THat's why Margaret always conversed with him, especially, about her visions and what the log told her.

Cooper's message to Cole: My thought went to a secret Blue Rose coded message only Gordon could recognize. Something they thought up years ago, basically a message that could only come from Cooper and that tells him his wherabouts. And since Twin Peaks holds such a significance to Cole, it could also be a code word.
@BAINES037 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing something along those lines paired with, "It's very, very good to see you again, old friend."

The note Agent Cooper gave to Bushnell Mullins to give to Gordon Cooper might have been a note he wrote twenty-five years ago before he was trapped in the Red Room, that he kept in his black suit that he wanted Gordon to see if anything happened to him - or even though he's well, still wanted to communicate to Gordon.

I think it's important that we heard the "electrical cracking" sound effect when we see Audrey in the white room looking into the mirror. To me this says she is not in a comma, hospital or mental institution... she is somewhere else not of this world. And maybe the dancing scene in the bar DID actually happen, but that Audrey is a tulpa, and that's why she is acting so weird. The real Audrey is the one in the white room... maybe Mr. C took her there. Or probably something else... I kind of hope they don't give us the answer and just leave us to speculate.

If that's the case, the final 2 parts would likely be a grand finale with perhaps some epilogue vignettes... but Lynch and Frost certainly don't feel terribly married to formulas... so, the sky is the limit! 🐦

I'm in the "Make another Dougie for Janey-E and Sonny Jim" camp. That was not my first thought while watching, but once Cooper "slipped" and said "Dougie will be back" and then corrected himself that he will be back. IMHO he said what he meant the first time. Knowing Cooper, he could just waltz in someone else's life like that. He's got his own life - a life of an FBI agent.

A Tulpa is a thought form, or being created from the collective thoughts of separate individuals. The concept of Tulpas is theoretical in nature and originates from Tibetan mythology, where Tulpas are described as extra bodies that were created from one person's mind in order to travel to spiritual realms.
@yans.39087 жыл бұрын
it is not ``theoretical``, there is a reality, I was part of an occult group for a short while in the late 80's and the teacher/medium was teachghing all of us to create a Tulpa... except he didn't name it tulpa.
@nickcody10017 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the posts! I've been following your Twin Peaks videos for a while and think I might have something to add to this one. Keep in mind, there's a ton of comments already and while I've scanned through them rather quickly, I didn't see anyone point out this bit of factual detail. Consider the following: at 09:41 Evil Coop sends a text message reading :-) ALL. (Remember that period). On my media player, at 31:58, Diane is in a bar and finally receives that message from Evil Coop. It reads: 16:31 received on her phone, :-) ALL. Then she responds with the long number which is presumably coordinates, like Evil Coop wanted ALL of the coordinates? I don't know about that. Anyway, jump at bit to 40:28 in that episode with Diane in the room with Cooper and others and we see this as she checks her phone: :-) ALL (with NO period) and the time is registered at 15:50. So it brings up obvious questions: Is this a different Diane than the one who was in the bar? What is that backward time-jump all about? It's not something that a first-time viewer would pick up on, only someone who could go back and confirm what they thought they might have seen. Interesting stuff, but what it means is still up for grabs.

Cooper ain't got time to be waiting for the FBI to question him. He's on a mission so a note to Gordon makes sense. He'd have to wait around being questioned for a murder he didn't commit just to get a call in to Gordon losing valuable time. Best option was to use the opportunity given to him in the Mitchum brother's to get to Twin Peaks as fast as possible and meet Gordon there.

I like the idea that the whole series thus far has been set-up for a two-hour movie finally. I know most every TV season ends with a climax, but this feels different somehow. All the major players are lined up to meet in Twin Peaks, most all sub plot and side characters have been resolved, now we can really focus on the main confrontation and story line.

shaft9000 You say that like it is common knowledge, is it? That's the theory I liked, but feel free to share more on Judy Houseman. I know about the complaint from a Great Northern guest earlier this season, _Mrs. Houseman,_ involving a nasty skunk and Ben says to 'tell her he'll deal with it or something, but I thought it was a nod to FWWM, as I know of a Judy Houseman who was going to be a sister of Josie (thanks to TP Wiki) but I thought it was weak and abandoned in FWWM, hence the nod, no? Is that really it!? Oh no. If they are bringing that back, that feels a wee bit anti-climatic to me.
@jamiebraswell55207 жыл бұрын
Punkster, the Judy Houseman theory has nothing to do with the abandoned Josie - sister idea. The thought is that this Mrs. Houseman who is from New York might in fact be Judy, who in turn might be the girl from 1956 New Mexico who swallowed the frog thing. The idea is that she could be the mystery billionaire funding the glass box experiment and is now in Twin Peaks awaiting the events of 10-2. I like this theory, but it could be totally wrong! Whether I like it or not, Judy could be Briggs. We just don't know.

I think Cooper's avoided calling Cole directly for the same reason he left the hospital immediately rather than stay there and meet Headley. It's very unlikely he will be allowed to DIRECTLY contact Deputy Director Cole, especially while Cole is on a case and possibly traveling. He'll run into FBI Bureaucracy in the meantime, that could delay him several hours or days that he needs to act. He knows the FBI is looking for him, and that it leads back to Cole's orders, but he also knows the standard procedure would be to hold him where he is until Cole gets around to calling Vegas again. He has no time for this and he has no time the be routed through Cole's two secretaries while the Doppelganger has such a head start. Especially if he specifically needs the Mitchems and the girls (I have the distinct impression he needs Candie) and getting the lower echelons at the FBI to trust them will be an even BIGGER delay. When Cole checks on Vegas, Cole'll get that note. When Cole gets to Twin Pekas, he'll get the full in-person explanation and introductions.

Pete, I had a thought yesterday about Diane. I always thought Diane was a nickname for Dale's tape recorder in the original series. Could Evil Coop have created a Tulpa of his "idea" of Diane? (If Cooper and Evil Coop share the same memories, that is).
@shaft90007 жыл бұрын
I like this, a little. That's also why "Diane is at the Sheriff's Station" is intriguing, but I've no idea how or why DoopleCoop would leave it there. Whatever purpose a 'decoy Diane' (in at least two manifestations) could serve is a ways off, but it has enough poetic/thematic merit to fit.

I've been racking my brains about the 3rd coordinates as well. Here's one thing I've realized now; the coordinates that Diane posts in a flurry after the ": - ) All" message is slightly off from the Ruth Davenport coords. Now those original coords were both smudged and possibly obscured purposefully by a suspicious Albert but they appear to be close to 4855142117263956. But Diane (before she mutters "I Hope this Works!") sends the following : 48551420117163956, with a 0 added and a 1 instead of 2 after the 7.

The doppelgänger is the "shadow self" hawk mentioned in the original series. Tulpas are manufactured. Also Mr C made Dougie, he mentioned he had a plan, and when he says Dougie, I mean I will be back is a reference to the fact that he had mike make a (presumably more Dale-like) Dougie tulpa so he doesn't take away Janey-E's husband and Sonny Jim's father.

"Richard and Linda, two birds with one stone." This might lend us to believe that Linda is Richard Horne's sister both spawned by Evil cooper, the "stone" being the "money shot". The only Linda that is mentioned in season 3 was in the conversation with Harry Dean Stanton when he gave a lift to a guy who needed to get Linda's mail, and that she was a disabled war veteran and poor. So this seems odd, as Ben Horne would have taken care of her financially, if she was indeed Audrey's daughter. This means evil coop might have impregnated someone else...Diane? Annie? Who then had a daughter Linda....So many questions...

I think Naido is Laura. It was after her disappearance from the Lodge with Coop that Leland told Coop to "find Laura". In the strange mauve world that some seem to think is the White Lodge, Coop ran into Naido and an incarnation of Ronette Polasky. Laura's disappearance from the Lodge was similar to that of Diane's tulpa, who said "I am in the Sheriff's Station". Andy's vision from the Fireman was all about Laura and his caring for Naido and it is she who he needs to protect from "evil men that want to kill her". Makes sense to me but we'll see!

There's good logic in the theory that Coop is trying to recreate a Doogie tulpa. He did mumble "Doogie ... I will be back" while talking to his family. Also, he seems to know what is required to make a tulpa, so this opens up the question: was it Mr. C that created Doogie or was it Cooper ?!?

I've been getting this idea that maybe Naido is a stand in representation for several Women in general. The way Inland Empire's tagline is "A Woman in Trouble," maybe lynch touches upon multiple identities here again and Naido has something to do with Audrey, Laura, and Diane.

Check out the times on the text messages Diane receives, it's 16:51 in the bar, when she gets the message and seems to reply and starts getting nervous and goes to walk upstairs. Afterwards when she is in the room with team Blue Rose, she checks her phone and it says message received at 15: something, like an hour earlier, and it's slightly different in other ways. It is possible that that is just a continuity error, but this series doesn't seem to have any continuity issues that don't seem to imply something relevant to our understanding of the plot and symbolism. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!

This may be an odd bit, but did anybody else notice that at the very end of the end credits somebody says "good girl" in the backwards lodge voice. The scene starts with Audrey doing her dance. The band is playing forwards for lack of a better term. then the men start a fight, Audrey wants to get out, she sees herself as a different person, then the credits start running with the musicians playing backwards. Right before the end Rancho Rosa is the "good girl". I am beginning to think the roadhouse is not what it appears to be.

Maybe James and his buddy did cross one of the doors in the basement and went straight to the Road House... I'm not sure how many layers of reality are there in Twin Peaks, but the Roadhouse seems like another waiting room for lost souls, a little bit like the waiting room of the black lodge.

A small mystery that's gotten lost along the way is...who gave Ray the Owl Cave ring in the South Dakota prison? He says a guard but...how? or was it an actual guard or a denizen of The Lodge? I originally thought Diane gave it to him, but that wouldn't make sense now as she was on Evil Cooper's side the whole time (and the purpose of the ring was to be put on Evil Coop's finger upon death). I'm still confused as to whether or not Phillip Jeffries is working with or against Evil Cooper or if there are TWO Phillip Jeffries (one of which is a giant tea kettle) and if so who's the second? Mysteries still remain!

What you're saying makes sense and he seems the only likely candidate.

Well Phillip jeffries gave it to him. What agent Jeffries used is not clear. Yet

The Hemingway Land Company great point here. Ray said, "It was a guard. Or, at least they were dressed like a guard." "But, I'd never seen him before." Whoever gave Ray the ring, I think he was associated with whomever Evil Cooper talked to on the radio thing in Part 2. What about the magic box thing in Buenos Aires?

MIKE could have; and is often 'entrusted' with the job to boot. As for Jeffries, it's too hard to sort out yet because all we've ever seen of Jeffries is the time-travelling 'Tulpa in Red Shoes' version in FWWM (ranting about Judy and Dopple-Coop a year before Dopple-Coop is any sort of fact..."Is It Future or Is It Past") and an alleged Jeffries-as-teapot.

Ray said he got the numbers from Hasting's secretary, yes? I think Diane sent the wrong # (which we don't see), then sends the right one to try to atone for it. I think that whatever's on Coop's note is something that can't be conveyed in words. He also isn't sure that Mr. C isn't in communication with Gordon, so maybe he thinks a call isn't secure.

I'd say there are more connections between Diane and Naido: Naido is japanese (at least the actress is), Diane's house is full of japanese art, furniture and she even wears japanese clothes. The names Diane and Naido have four out of five letters in common. When Naido meets Dale she definitely seems to know or have a lot of affection for him. And it is pretty much the only possible person at the sheriff station, I woudn't bet on the drunk guy.

Is it possible there are 2 timelines, 1 of which is running normally, the other is disjointed and time is not running smoothly or correctly, time is out of place?? It may have some kind of connection somehow to the bank explosion and the woods, I don't know how exactly but maybe the explosion combined with the mystical elements of the wood caused an issue with time?? I probably should point out that due to circumstances I've not been able to watch a single episode of season 3, all my info has come from your excellent videos and a couple of others from KZbin (I've chosen to ignore the spoiler alerts!!) so my theory could be completely off track!!

Oh...we saw Diane, in the bar, texting Bad Cooper the coordinates, right when she received the msg "ALL", but this was after he left the fake place...so, one from Jeffries, one from Ray and one from Diane...

I truly think the answer to your question of why leave a paper note is a simple, albeit unsatisfying, one. It is likely just a rhetorical, storytelling reason to ensure that the first time Cole and Cooper see each other is in person and not over the phone to enhance our experience as the viewers. The paper almost surely says, "Meet me in Twin Peaks."
@HoveLand0087 жыл бұрын
I've listened to Diane say it about a hundred times, to me it really sounds like she's saying 'I'm the Sheriff Station?'. I'm sure it's intentionally hard to make out so as to be ambiguous but I cannot hear a second syllable before the words 'Sheriff Station'
@millennialtrance32357 жыл бұрын
Diane and Jefferies had the same coordinates. Evil Coop was lying to Richard when he told them they were near the spot with the two coordinates. He just had to make sure the one was a trap. Part of the whole reason he had Richard to begin with.

Arguably, Naido could bi a broken anagram of both Linda and Diane.

I though Ray gave the correct coordinates simply because Ray is the only person who got the numbers directly from Hastings secretary.

Dougie was based off of Bad Coop's DNA. (Probably as a way for Bob to escape the lodge should he ever get pulled back in) Hence the gambling and the cheating and the fraud, etc. This new Dougie (assuming thats what Dale asked Mike to make) will be based off Good Dale. He might still be "not all there" as Janey-E suggests Dougie always was but hopefully he'll have only good intentions.
@akikolehmainen887 жыл бұрын
It feels more likely that Dougie was manufactured by real Cooper's associates to enable his return from the White Lodge. Cooper went right were Dougie was, and Dougie was disposed of. We are yet to see if a tulpa can exist if the original is in the same plain of existence. When real Cooper's new tulpa emerges, will either one be ejected to Red room or someplace else?

Ray's coordinates didn't necessarily match Jeffries'. Ray got them from Hastings' secretary. There was also always a chance Cole and Albert fed Diane coordinates with the wrong final digits. It looked like they were intentionally showing them to her even after noticing her trying to memorize them. Though I guess that scenario would have required Cole to have somehow set up or at least known about the trap, which would be a stretch.
@akikolehmainen887 жыл бұрын
I wonder if there ever were different sets of coordinates. Mr C used it as an excuse to get Richard on the stone, probably knowing what will happen as he wasn't the least surprised when he perished. "Richard and Linda. Two birds with one stone." Was it Mr C that Fireman was talking with in the beginning?

Accountants: No idea, but if i could guess, if this is Audrey's dream, her visions are based on money and banks : D Although the glitches, editing mistakes may suggest the dream is falling apart Or we are in a fake world where Cooper is tricked into by the Evil Arm, like a game, to keep him occupied and stuck and he has to try to wake up and he is now. Audrey seems to have "woken up" too. And there were those sleeping farmers that Chantal and Hutch talk about in the beginning when they meet Mister C Lots of sleeping people " D I have many questions too, but id wait to see what happens and then ask everyone

I think Naido is actually the real Diane. She will somehow be able to free herself from the Naido exterior. Dianes last words were that she is at the Sheriff's office. I think another hint is the Asian outfit Diane was wearing in her last scene. Once the real Diane is free, she will have a lot of knowledge after being trapped in the white lodge for years, and can help defeat Bad Coop and the Mother.

Too obvious or easy? But I think Good Coop and Bad Coop are the extreme essences of Coop. I was hoping Dougie and Bad Coop would have somehow morphed. I think there is still a chance the analytical Coop can morph with his kick ass persona. Maybe?
